The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

This morning I tidied up a bit in the spare room (can now almost use the bed, lol!), sorted through the drawers in our room and put a few clothes in the charity bag, and found a bar of bath soap which is now in the bathroom ready for use. Total for CS bag, so far today, is 30 items, plus I've put in the bits that I sorted last week so they'll hopefully be gone tomorrow, if they actually come back to collect!
Can't be bothered to go out today, so will post the ebay parcel after work tomorrow. Also been doing a bit of virtual de-cluttering, and got rid of loads of old emails last night.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I've been AWOL for a couple of weeks, my Grandad's funeral, a weekend away with the Guides, being busy at work and problems with the estate agents we're trying to sell our house with have rather taken over.
There have been a few outs:
6 ebay sales posted
4 books and a sock my dad left at Christmas returned to my mum at the funeral
4 cosmetic things used up
Some Guide things tidied/shredding happened/things used that sort of thing
Keeping on top of the post and stuff like that in the house
1 sack of textile recycling, bag of packaging bags and a box and trug of tetra paks all taken to recycling as well as usual recycling at home, the bins seem to be fairly full anyway!
In:
5 items of clothing
3 cushion pads for things I'm sewing - been trying to track these for ages
4 Glamour mags for freebies - mags rehomed
a couple of books from mum to read and a top that doesn't fit me either so in the charity pile!
a bag and box of things my mum has decluttered for a charity fundraiser for the theatre I help at - so only temporarily in, but I did decide one of the oven dishes was useful so I've taken it and will put a donation in the pot!
Need to focus on what I can do to continue with decluttering, I've done some of the easy bits like selling silver, music magpie, ebaying obvious bits, so now it's going to be a second round up of what's left I think, at least very little is coming in at the moment.
I'll aim to keep up with things better now.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Finally, after a month of barely de-cluttering anything I've made some progress
Emptied out kitchen unit ready for freecycler
Given big stack of about 15 brand new oval shaped side plates (and no, I don't know why we had them in the first place!), a few saucers, bread bin, set of cake tins, a purse and set of chess pieces to charity shop
10 sideplates and about 6 drinking glasses pending out to my parents - we have waaay to much crockery!
Returned handbag to ebay seller after I won ebay dispute.
Hopefully I can find a few more things to de-clutter from the kitchen later0 -
What a wonderful thread. I didn't exactly think I was the only one with decluttering problems but it really lifts my spirits to see that others have as hard a time as I do making progress!
OUT:
4 bottles of seldom-used toiletries
8 paperbacks to charity
1 throw
2 potato-growing bags0 -

I haven't started on that floordrobe yet. We are short of storage space....but if I sort those spaces then it will be easier!

woops I managed to change my post yesterday! But here's today's anyway!
Project master bedroom sorted all by end March:T:
1. [STRIKE]Clear floordrobe on my side[/STRIKE]!Started during tv ads and done!
2. Get OH to clear his side!
3. Sort out the stuff in front of the wardrobe, find homes for etc.
4. Sort the clothes in the wardrobe.
5. Make sure the windowsills are clear.Started, a few bits to go.
6. Sort the main chest of drawers - the surface and the drawers.
7. Sort the open cupboard too.
8. Reward with getting a superking duvet and covers
Tidied the bedside table so some clutter on top was gone and drawers inside sorted better. Right two TV adverts were on shortly so I rushed upstairs and sorted during the 1st advert:
...Loads of rubbish bits (why don't I have a bin??!!)
...A load of white washing, now in the machine.
And in the 2nd advert:
...found my hairdryer:o
...sort the clothes to wash into piles
...
And in the 3rd advert:
...another little bag of rubbish
...moved the odd bits of clothes to the washing piles
...got rid of more recyling
...put letters with stuff to shred in a little container/trug
...slightly made windowsills and corner area worse but....drum roll.... I cleared my side of floordrobe and rubbish. woo hoo.
Phew. Little and often. Try doing stuff during the tv ads!Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

The cleaner has sorted my paperwork from the lounge into neat piles - slightly worrying in one way as I actually knew where everything was and some of it is very important - but I will be going through it. We had a gi-huge declutter on the weekend, so I'm drawing breath before the next mighty bout. My son (27) has finally got into cooking so keeps sneaking in bits of kitchen equipment, most of it useful. Latest is a Lurpak bread tin from a friend of his. Very sturdy, and a bit better actually than the other bread tins we have ... so one of them will go.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0

afternoon all,
Didn't actually make any progress decluttering last night but I did put everything in the dishwasher before bed, shinned my sink, wiped down the work surfaces in the kitchen and swish and swiped this morning before leaving.
Have actually been really surprised at how easy it has been to get into these little flylady routines, and really is making a differenceNew surname New start!
