    Carrying on ....

    27. Welly boot liners to friend for c.b.s. (Why did I buy these? I don't own wellies!)
    28. Mini bike pump that is too fiddly to friend as above.
    29. Nikwax Tech Wash sachet - freebie - used to reproof winter jacket.
30 4 10 year old + books of cheque stubs shredded.

It's very therapeutic listing what I've done and a tremendous incentive to do more.

This thread is a Godsend, knocks procrastination on the head.

Wish I had the courage to join this thread - could do with just going for it with a big declutter, but something is holding me back. I am trying to buy less and use things up, though!

Hello loopychriss! Long time no see. Our original inspiration is your good self for mini challenges such as get rid of 100 things in 10 days. Good to see you back. You'll get that spare room sorted, I need to as well!

Hi mineallmine, good to be back. Was wondering if you'd remember me.... I've not been a very good advert for the 100 things in 10 days challenges recently!!! Haven't been on before this weekend because I've been busy decluttering and was out all day yesterday and this morning!

Over the weekend I have managed to lose/rehome/recycle:

1 bottle of out of date eyedrops - back to the pharmacy
1 empty celebrations (plastic) tin - to my grandson's nursery
1 pair of speakers - freegled
1 sealed money pot tin - to daughter
1 bag of fabric scraps and rags - to daughter's friend for recycling
45 decorative hole punches - to my mum
4 sets of chalks - to mum
6 rubber stamps - to mum
3 old video tapes - hubby recorded them onto computer - Charity shop collection on Thursday
2 cordless phones from mum and dad - charity shop as above
4 soft toys given to me today from mum - for a charity stall in the summer

I'll probably spend a bit more time tonight in my [STRIKE]pig sty[/STRIKE] craft room tidying up the rest of the rubber stamps and re-homing craft stuff. To be honest my craft room looks like it's been burgled - there's stuff on the floor, on the table, cupboard doors open, boxes on the floor........ I'll be glad when I've done it and can actually get in there to play again!

I've obviously got a lot more days ahead decluttering before I'm sorted......... how has everyone else done?

    Hi Sophy

You can join in this thread, even if you're not decluttering straight away. Sometimes it takes a while to get into the mind frame and by reading this thread you can see how others are tackling it, and it may encourage you to start.

"The only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time".... I've heard this phrase lots of times and it's true: start by maybe decluttering 3 things. I find it helps to take photos of the decluttered items, so you can look back at what you've actually achieved.

I started off with a "Wave bye bye to 100 things in 10 days" challenge last year (or the year before?), and at first I thought I'd never be able to do that. But it's surprising what you can do if you've only got to declutter 10 things and have all day to do it.

Some people count each item, others count each group of items (e.g. 5 books could be listed as 5 items, or just one general item of books).

I understand the 'something is holding me back' feeling: I've got probably hundreds of pounds worth of craft stuff bought over the last 10 or so years, that I still haven't used, and have to make the decision whether to get rid of it or keep it. Something's holding me back from getting rid, as I think that maybe one day I'll use it again, but even if I crafted for the next 25 years I'd probably never use it all up! Plus the ever-present feeling of guilt that I spent money on things I'll never use.

You've already made the decision to buy less and use up what you have, so now be brave and take the plunge. Find just 3 things today/tomorrow that are bugging you and either re-home or recycle/throw out. Pop back on here to tell us all about it - you'll feel so much better once you've started! Good Luck!!!

    :)

You may well have a drawer in the house in to which all homeless bits go or stuff that you haven't got round to rehoming or want to keep handy... well, mine had got ridiculous, couldn't find anything in it. So it was comprehensively de-gibbled earlier.

There was a whole load of junk in it, but also some very useful things I'd forgotten I owned - a large reel of colourless thread, fabric gliue, super-strength glue, extra - strong staples and a big handful of wipeboard markers that I use frequently for teaching.

    So 31. 'Useful' drawer de-cluttered.
    32. Plastic twine from kitchen DIY drawer binned- knotted and useless, why had I kept this?
    33. Dried up glue tubes of varying types x 5 binned. Had I been better organised I could have used the gliue BEFORE it dried out. Have made a mental note of the glue that's left.
    34. Pens, pencils and markers from drawer all gathered into one bag.
    35. Various spare coins from around the house into piggy bank - which is a blue pottery elephant with red and yellow spots and a daft expression. Every home should have one.
    36. Lounge bin emptied and this time I remembered to put the correct fitting bin bag in.

There may be more later, but if not, that's not bad going (for disorganised at times little me!)
