Another popping over from the no toiletries board - can I join?
i am working stupid hours at the minute and am also moving house in about 6 weeks so really need to get my behind in gear! I am a bit embarrased at the state of my house but I just can't seemt o get on top of it!
I read some of the flylady stuff so yesterday I shinned my sink! I also used a tip from there which I found really useful - grab a bag and wander around the house until you have managed to put 27 things in it. The bag can be for the bin or charity shop or anything really. I did it for the first time last night and found it actually quite easy and rather rewarding.
Tonight I will package up my latest ebay sale and probably gran another bag to put 27 things in taht need to go in the bin!New surname New start!

Welcome MinniMe! Yay on the shiny sink
. You've also just done your first 27 fling boogie
.
I took 8 napkin rings to a shop earlier and they offered me £40, then £50. I've come away to have a think about it. If they'll give me the £50 without the really old one then I'll have their hand off. Otherwise I'm not so sure. Ho hum.
Have taken 3 carriers out to big bin today, mainly packaging though. We have to re tidy DS's bedroom again after school as he's made it a mess again (little monkey) but he can do that on his own.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Thanks for inspiring me folks am attempting to declutter my room without adding new clutter I think its in the blood though my mum is the most amazing clutterer and as much as I love her I do not want that to be my destiny so allocated yesterday to going through my wardrobe and cupboards. I was ruthless ( well maybe not as cut throat) as I could have been and have filled two boxes for for my car boot sale. put some stuff onto amazon to sell and am watching this space, its nice to be able to walk through my room must invite mum round so that she may get inspired.misselvis proud and in motion - dealing with her debts step by step

Hi celebrate - you've had lots of good tips. Don't let being scared of decluttering put you off - dive in, but start small. A drawer (that junky drawer in the kitchen we all have is a good one) - if you can, take it right out and plonk yourself in front of the TV and do it, have a bag for rubbish, a bag for charity/ebay and a bag for things that need to live somewhere else in the house.Someone else on here has been decluttering her wardrobe by default. Each day when she gets dressed, she'll pull something out and think "Meh! Don't like the cut/ feel/ coulour/ pattern/ whatever" So out it goes.
This is meI'm still going, and still shocked at the amount of newish things that I take out of the wardrobe, put on, and then think 'what the heck was I thinking'
I thought I was quite a good shopper, not buying stuff I didn't absolutely love, but obviously not. Still, I've noticed that I am much more careful when buying clothes now - checking that tops aren't too low cut before I buy then, not discovering it a month or so later, when it's already been worn - so onwards and upwards :T
I decluttered two little piles of stuff that had mysteriously appeared this week - shredded and recycled some stuff, binned some marbles (from a Christmas cracker??) and put things back in their rightful homes. It took ten minutes - it was one of my Ten Minute Tidy sessions :rotfl:Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

Evening all,
I've been using up lots of toiletries as per the toiletries challenge/thread. Still a way to go but so much better than a year ago when half empty bottles of shampoo decorated each corner of the bath!
The good news:
The hallway is still clear.
I attacked the bathroom just now and bagged up lots of rubbish and recycling.
The kitchen isnt bad
The bad news:
The lounge is full of my papers and rubbish.
Haven't attacked either of the spare rooms.
Bedroom floor is still there just not visible...
So who's up for a weekend challenge of getting rid of say - 30 things over this weekend?
Our local hospice charity shop is looking decidedly empty of stuff and I still have so much *stuff*.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Hi All - I'm back after an absence of 6 months
:o:o. I've not completely re-cluttered the house in that time but some bad habits are starting to creep back in (CS addiction - thought I'd kicked that one....). Did manage to de-clutter 10kg through going to the gym though :j
Last time I posted I was planning to do a boot-sale & then take the remaining items to the CS. Unfortunately I fell ill, didn't do the boot-sale & just stored the stuff in the shed. Looked in the shed at the weekend and found that there had been a leak and loads of the stuff had been water-damaged so I had to dump it - made me feel bad that I hadn't just taken it to the CS.
This has at least galvanised me into making a start on the decluttering this week - so far:
Out
Binbag full of water damaged items
Water damaged child's car seat
Water damaged rug
Mouldy laundry basket
2 large bin-liners of stuff to CS
childs table & chair - left outside house
stationery bits & top to friend
stock of jewellry that I'd been storing for friend after doing a stall for her
vast quantities of recycling
In
Skirt bought in M&S sale using birthday vouchers
hyancinths for window box
2 bracelets & a necklace from very generous friend for doing stall.
jacket from CS
Ring (very indulgent present for myself) did not need another ring - bad,bad,bad....
I'm up for a 30 item challenge for the weekend Mineallmine - (you are a decluttering inspiratation btw... )Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.

hi thought i would rejoin this thread about 3 years after i first joined it. I did a lot of decluttering before OH moved in to make space for him but now things have just built up again and it's really bringing me down. Trouble he's the type who things.... why buy one when you can buy two!
Think i will have a look through my book case this weekend as i can't close the doors at the moment. I know there's books in there i haven't read, will never read or will never read again. Especially as i've now got a Kindle.
I have managed to declutter some onion sets at work today and make a couple of quid which pays for the spuds i bought on Saturday.0 -
I'm up for 30 items this weekend. The kids are away from tomorrow evening until Sunday afternoon so I'm hoping to get DH galvanised on the outside clutter as I can't lift all of it.
Actually, dependant on the weather, I pledge two carfulls of stuff and an old carpet. Let's see.
Oh an in (I can hear DH pulling up outside with it now.... a new microwave. Just set fire to the old one. I know, I know, there are easier and safer ways to declutter!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -

Yep, I'm up for it. I've not posted on here for months, probably since last summer, when I lost my motivation. Don't know what happened since as I was doing really well with my "Wave bye bye to 100 things in 10 days" routine, but now the stuff has started to creep back in and take over again.
We have now decided that we'd like to downsize in 2012, so the Big Declutter has started. I currently have the box room packed to the rafters with my craft supplies - cross stitch, sewing, card making and scrapbooking stuff - with no room for anything else and no room to move. Plus sewing fabric in the spare room and cupboard under the stairs. So my aim for this year is to use up what I can and sell/freegle/give away the majority of it so the box room can look like a bedroom again.
There is plenty to declutter in the loft as well, which has again turned into a dumping ground for anything we don't want in the house, plus anything our 2 daughters can't fit into their houses!
So yes, count me in for this weekend. Will post pics when (and if) I can, I find that spurs me on, actually seeing the amount of stuff that's going, all in one place!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
