Ok so about half way through the weekend and I've done the following so far:

    1. After failing to do this last weekend because I was ill I'm going to try and find some things to take to a charity shop tomorrow morning. My aim is 10, and if OH joins in and helps I hope to get to 20!
Took 20 things this morning, 3 items of clothing, a scarf and then the rest were little random bits and bobs, a photo frame that sort of thing but all good quality/condition and all gone out the house!

    Achieved!
    2. I don't have an under the stairs cupboard but our office is the room that needs the most attention I think so that is going to be my blitz area this weekend, filing done, anything that doesn't belong in there gone and under my desk which has become a dumping ground sorted!
OH and I are doing this atm - filing done, stuff move out that doesn't belong here, recycling bin is full and it's starting to look better - work in progress.

Didn't finish the office but it looks so much better and an hour or so working out what is under my desk will almost crack it - well I can't do much about OH's corner - just mine and the communal bits!

    3. I've arranged to take some specialist books to a book shop tomorrow afternoon so hopefully they'll be interested in those. Do this and hopefully come back with some cash. I then need to actually list the books I didn't take to the oxfam bookshop the other week as I they looked worth listing on Amazon or GM but I haven't listed yet and they won't sell if I don't!
Traffic was awful and so didn't make it to the book shop as I would have been late for my volunteering otherwise  will have to try again - still need to do other books - job for in a minute I think.

All books I was going to put on GM/Amazon listed - will review sales if any in a month and decide if I want to keep them on here or just charity shop and have the space.

    4. There are some bits on the book shelves in the little bedroom that should be in my 'special' box from things from my childhood - need to try and get those put away and then we'll have a couple of empty book shelves - good for things from the office.

Haven't done this - put it on the list for next time I think.

    5. 4 of my 7 ebay things will sell so far - relist anything that doesn't and the duplicate item from last week I did on second chance offer but they didn't respond, and then do a couple more of the bits I don't mind listing for 99p - starting to run out of those though - need a free listing day!
5 items will currently sell and one is doing really well for what it is. Need to identify this week's bits.

All items sold, 5 are ready packaged up to send, one hasn't paid yet and one is sending a cheque, been ages since anyone did that!

Relisted the item from last week and done 4 more listings, well 2 each have 2 items in them so it's 7 items in total this week and 2 have bids already!

Phew - I'll report my progress later in the weekend! Happy decluttering everyone.

In addition to the above I've taken some leaflets and a poster for my music group to the theatre that are selling our tickets, OH sorted out a pile of things from his bedside drawers and we've got a pile of stuff to go in the confidential waste where I work (would break the shredder if it went in there I think and we'd be here for ever :o)

Can't believe there's much stuff left in the house now but there is. Keep up the good work everyone.

Updated progress in Green - 2 things completely done, 2 partly done and 1 not started but today I:

Vacuumed the whole house from top to bottom, doing all the edges of rooms, under furniture where I could etc and the stairs (3 storey house so 2 sets) really thoroughly - kept emptying the dyson as so much was coming up :o:o but looking much better and showing what needs carpet cleaning urgently and what was a bit dusty. Did a great job on the ensuite shower and a bit of painting in the bedroom that needed doing too but shall we say hasn't put quite as much effort in as me today...

Dinner was all bits and pieces out the freezer and fridge and I had a bath and used a bath bomb so another gone from the bathroom cupboard.

So a pretty productive day really - although not the best for an asthmatic recovering from a nasty cold....

    So this weekend

    In:
    • New glasses for OH
    • couple of buns (eaten very quickly ;))
    • bit of junk mail (recycled)

    Out:
    • 20 things to charity shop
    • leaflets and a poster to theatre
    • 2 bags of rubbish/dyson contents
    • 3 bins of general reycling emptied into council bins in our garage ready for collection on Tuesday
    • 5 things in freezer (leftovers and things bought on offer) eaten
    • Bag of shredding into garage and shredder full again
    • Joules bath bomb I used when I had a bath
    • 2 pairs of PJs I didn't really like into textile recycling bag in garage as I love my 2 new pairs, 3 bras that aren't the right size anymore but were still in the drawer too.

Lots tidied up, including bedding my parents used at Christmas removed from duvet and pillows :o those back in cupboard and bedding washed, dried and put away, iron mountain done and put away too.

    Pending out tomorrow:

    • Wad of paper to put in confidential waste at work
    • 5 things to post sold on ebay
    • catalogue to post return to sender - didn't ask to join mailing list
    • New NT handbook into car
    • piece of post for next door I found in a leaflet I was about to recycle - think it only came this week - need to put it through their door in the morning.
    • Leftovers for lunch at work.
    • Couple of bits of post for our theatre group to pass on to other people at rehearsal.
Think that's everything for now - phew bedtime I think!

Been great catching up on everyone elses decluttering - we'll all have pristine houses soon!

:) FelinePrincess has made my mind up for me; the salad spinner shall go today with the other stuff. Had a dither as Mum gave it to me but I told myself that she did that because she didn't use it either, and she doesn't even need to know it's not on the premises...

  • Good Morning All
Well my plan to spend 30 mins per work day on decluttering my work area turned into an hour on Friday
There was so much clutter on my desk but it looks much better now. Just have to find somewhere to store the tin full of phone chargers and books that are sitting on the top.
Still got to empty my pen container though.

Found 4 old catalogues on one of the cupboard shelves which have now been transferred to the recyling box.
Shredded 1 bag full of paper.

Sitting on top of my plastic 3 drawer unit is a carrier bag full of paper/receipts and assorted rubbish. That`s got to go today.
Then to start on the drawers.

Also managed to find another 2 black bags full of rubbish (currently sitting in what was DD`s room and now spare room) ready for a trip to the tip.
Took a carrier bag full of stuff to the Salvation Army bin at the supermarket.
Took a large bag DD`s clothes to her house. She`s been left home for over 2 years but still has loads of stuff here.

    Will report back later.

Hope everyone else is getting on ok.

Yes Julie I am in Australia, in Melbourne so we didn't get the flooding that the Queenslanders did.

LOL, thanks! I laughed at myself after posting this for being so thick and British, expecting that everyone was here - ah the power of the internet eh! Great to have a 'pal' down under on board for the challenge!

Hello everyone. Today as it is on the flylady list anyway i am sorting out my living room. Its not actually too bad but just things that need putting back to their rightful homes etc. I have gone through kids box of drawing stuff and recycled all drawn on bits of paper, used colouring books etc. Half their pencils are blunt so have decided to sharpen them lol before I put them all back! Ouch it hurts my fingers.....need a battery sharpener! No correction I want one! But not MSE and it is just more clutter! I've sorted one cupboard of toys out and a box so things are back where they should be. Going to tackle the understairs cupboard next. This LR will be sparkling soon! xx

Hi all, haven't been on in a while as our internet got cut off :eek: Unfortunately didn't utilise this time to do any decluttering though :doh:Work rang me earlier and said they didn't need me in today so I'm taking it as a kick up the backside from the Universe to get some stuff done! I also need to find my birth certificate in order to join a poker tournament at the casino on Wednesday, and I know that it's in here somewhere so I might as well sort stuff out as I'm moving it around. Just going to read a few pages here first as encouragement, I always feel a lot more motivated when I see how well everyone else is doing :)

Actually, I tell a lie, I did a little decluttering. I packed up all the ornaments and candle holders and things from the living room and kitchen yesterday, including putting aside a few bits for my 'Car boot sale job lot' on eBay. Only thing left was my collection of shot glasses which I'm frankly terrified of having to pack up and move so Im going to leave it until the last moment in the hope that there's less chance of them getting broken :o

(Whispers) 'Hello !' I have such a lot of clutter that I can't read this thread very often because I get depressed by all the things people have done and not motivated at all, but we have a builder coming to rip out our disgusting shower room and to get in and out he will have to go through my utility room which WAS full of boxes and bags of out of date food, spices, disintegrating shop poly bags etc etc. I have spent all morning hurling nasty food and stuff into binbags and OH has just taken THREE to the tip. I have scrubbed floor and found an empty cupboard which was obscured by bags of old stuff. I feel so very pleased with myself I had to go to sleep for a bit but am now going to go back and scrub the filthy floor and clear the sink for builder to use. You have no idea (or perhaps you do !) how proud of myself I feel !!!!:T
