The Great Declutter Part 3 - 2011

OK, I know 5 pots of marmalade in darling jars I'll never throw away was naughty but I've scared up the following to go to the C.S. to make up for it;
1. Aerosol of fabric treatment, unused.
2. Paperback book.
3. Another paperback book.
4. 10 unused CD cases still in their shrinkwrap.
5. Several CDs.
There, 5 in and 5 out, although not from the same part of the flat, does that count ? (anxiously)
I could lose the salad spinner which would mean half the top shelf of one kitchen cabinet was free and could have the jamjars in.It's all about trying to keep a balance with the ins and for me especially more stuff going out. I bought 4 ice cream glasses yesterday so I will have to hunt around and find 4 things to go from the kitchen. :A

OH has sorted 2 coats he no longer wears (finally he realises he was loads more clothes than me). I packed up some toiletries I'm not using (unused) and a cosmetic bag. Get such a nice satisfying feeling to see a charity bag filling up
I haven't done a 15 minute concentrated burst yet but I have a good excuse
I finally after losing my folks over 10 years ago got round to putting some of their photos in lovely frames. So they are not hanging around getting damaged. I need to get a few more frames tomorrow, some picture wire but I finally am honouring my folks. This karma is already paying as I was nearly 10 minutes late back for my car parking but didn't get a ticket, phew. :A Thanks Mum & Dad :A
I got some lovely black frames from Wilkinson for just a few pounds each. So I feel very happy having done that today. I'm going to upgrade some of the other frames too which look a bit naff.
Well down to everyone doing 100 items in 10 days, sorting their understairs and generally getting on top of things. Feels good doesn't it? Addictive! (like you say PP!).
Right a bit more surfing then a 15 minute sort out.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

This weekend I decided I would get rid of the floppy disks (and the storage case they were in), which were taking up a lot of room on the computer desk. I got these from a car boot sale for a couple of pounds, but they’ve not been used for years, (because obviously data storage has moved on from floppies, lol!) and I probably will never use them again, so I transferred the files on them onto the computer (will probably transfer to a CDR or memory card at a later date), and then formatted them ready to go to CS (or may offer on Freecycle), and deleted some old files on the computer.
Did a bit of sorting in the spare bedroom, including getting DS’s audio cassettes ready to go to CS, along with a 6-drawer storage cabinet and carry case, tidying the Ebay boxes, and cutting up some old Christmas cards to make tags, off-cuts were put into recycling but still got a bagful to get through!
All old newspapers, leaflets and other junk mail were taken to recycling, emptied a bottle of hair conditioner, a shower gel, a jar of face cream, a hairspray, a bottle of stardrops, and a body spray and put all packaging in recycling box. Didn’t get around to sorting the kitchen cupboards, but will try to do them sometime in the week.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

This weekend I have done a bit of decluttering and sorting
Did the following- De cluttered the dining room. There is still some stuff left but it all needs to be freecycled
- Decluttered the kitchen towel. knives drawer. Now just need to find out how to dispose the knives. Any idea anyone?
- Decluttered the freezer. Now everything is labelled
- Washed 4 rounds of washing (I know that#s is not decluttering but the washing was on the floor in the spare bedroom
)
- Decluttered some dust/ bacteria from both the beds with the new anti bacterial bed Vac which apparently uses UV light to kill the nasties
- Decluttered and sorted the daily use dishes drawer. Binned a glass and a plate
- Decluttered cutlery drawer
- Decluttered bedside drawers in the second bedroom
Lots of papers to shred and stuff to freecycle
Vacuum cleaner and Shredder packed up this weekend as apparently they were being overworked :mad:0 -

Our local waste site has a special bin for them, might be worth trying at yours or call local council to ask? HTHWeight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I'd try that - or if not contact your local police station - they sometimes do knife amensties and I don't know whether they'd take them all the time - I know it's not really for decluttering houses, but better safe there than you putting them in general waste and a criminal getting their hands on it.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
