  • Congrats everybody on progress. Floods sound awful to deal with. :(

I am dead chuffed with myself today :j Have managed to move the sofa back into the living room. I finally decided where I would put the table & the sofa is now in a different position. Much better :) Also have managed to bring a book case downstairs (well, OH did it, moaning as much as he could :rotfl:) which actually fits where I hoped it might :j. Also now have room for a rug of mine in the living room . It needs a clean but I did manage to hoover it & the sofa. Whole room looks much better, and more comfortable. Do not want to overclutter it again so taking my time to move things back in. (old carpet had been there probably since 1974 when my grandparents moved in!)

After moving the sofa I was able to get to the bookcase(s) and found room for all the books/magasines we were given the other day so they are not in bags for evermore!

Even the mop came out for an airing today. Mopped the living room floor & part of the kitchen, so some grime decluttered. Even hoovered part of the dining room & hallway.

Recycling went today. And last night collected rubbish from upstairs so is now in black bag.

One mattress protector to add to CS bag. OH has thrown away some old magasines & cards & we're going to freecycle some more magasines.

Interestingly, I could feel the energy already starting to 'clot'/stagnate around the stuff moved into the dining room, hopefully will keep moving/rearranging things to stop it getting too awful.

Out all day today so got nothing done on the cluttering front. I think I need a kick up the b&m for tomorrow. For anyone else struggling to get anything done, let's try and do some decluttering for at least 15 minutes? I have a timer (countdown) on my phone - set the oven timer anything.

Right bedfordshire calls. Hugs to our Australia friends, the weather has been so scary. :A
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

  • Well done everyone.

I listed a CD and it sold on Amazon within 3 minutes of listing.

Packed up straight away and put in my bag for the PO on Monday.

Does that count as two items? CD, and reused jiffy bag (I save them and all bubble wrap for selling stuff) ?

I also found some old SpaceNK gift vouchers that had expired the other day and called their Customer Services who agreed to honour them!
  • I tackled two bookcases yesterday, which leaves one bookcase to do today.I'll post later on today what I've managed to declutter.

    Small steps...

:o Not sure whether to be proud of my thrift or ashamed of my procrastination. I compete at Olympic level in Procrastination, btw.

Y'see, several months ago I decluttered stuff into several carrier bags, mostly clothes and (unused) toiletries and piled them on the bedroom floor, to be dropped of at the c.s. one by one on my way to work.

I'd assumed they'd all gone long ago but I found one yesterday and it contained the toiletries, which I'd had had 2nd thoughts about parting with, and they're still here........:rotfl:

BAD BAD BAD. On the plus side, we are having the very first recycling collection at Shoebox Towers so I will be able to put out my big white bag instead of carting the recylables up the road to the on-street banks, which is what I had to do before. Must scour the corners for non-confidentials to add.

That'd be me - was my birthday on Friday, so a few ins, but no outs since, and I've not yet done anything to tackle the bits outstanding on my list. They just seem such intimidatingly huge tasks, so a 15 minute quick burst sounds just what I need :j Besides, I am home alone for a couple of hours this afternoon, so no interruptions :T

And this is what I'm gonna devote my 15 minutes to - it will probably amount to no more than pulling all the photos and associated gibble from all their various hidey-holes and setting them out so I can see what I'm dealing with. Downside: I'll be making things messier instead of tidier, albeit temporarily. Upside: stuff is harder to ignore when it's not tucked away out of sight.

And I shall also be devoting three quarters of an hour to an episode of the X files, as part of the effort to see and declutter that massive box set out of the house ;)

OOOh yes I'm in for the 15 minute de-clutter. Bf coming over in a while - who is a worse hoarder and shopaholic than me - so I can just about squeeze this in. Does de-cluttering the litter trays count though....ugh!

Loving that watching old videos counts - I have got a stack I need to watch then take to the CS but just never seem to have the patience to sit down for 1.5 hours!

Elaine12022 I loved your comment about the energy around your stuff - that is soooooo true. :T

Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!
