Hi all:),
i am in for the under the kitchen sink challenge, i hate that cupboard so would be good to get it over and done with. I am also planning on attacking the big book case, done the cooking books but its the novels that are the dumping ground for other bits of rubbish. But not planning too much decluttering over the weekend as is a family weekend. Every other weekend is dedicated to spending time with DD on girlie things and have already organised a meeting with a couple to discuss a wedding cake order, (extra pennies).
Have arrange for a friend to collect all the charity shop bags, She has set up a charity cafe and is going to sell the bits at a car boot sale to raise funds, which is great means no more heavy bags to carry in to town:D
hope every one has a great decluttering weekend0 -
Have 4 more black bin bags ready for the tip tomoz, full of old files, paperwork etc.Am also getting rid of my bedside cabinet tomoz so have emptied that totally too :eek:AM NEVER GONNA HOARD AGAIN!!!:o:o:o"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I'm exhausted reading some of these posts! Love the pics Kaz.
I am still very tired so haven't managed much but threw away a couple of old bags in the bathroom (found some mouthwash inside one which is useful), threw a bit of paper & a broken pencil from the study away & put some books in a box which meant there was room to put some other books in their place more neatly.
Have also managed a bit in the bedroom. A few 'odds & sods' in the bin, a few papers moved to the study. & 2 pegs put back in the peg basket
Am trying to catch up with the kitchen - decluttering the rest of the washing up. Want to make some bread and need to make space to make it
thanks for the thread folks, It makes me feel that every little counts.
Big job planned for tomorrow(?) is to move the sofa back into the living room.
Just remembered I have also sorted out some loose change, coppers & 5ps into the money pot, the rest divided. some into CC paying off fund, some into 'emergency' fund.

This weekend:
1. After failing to do this last weekend because I was ill I'm going to try and find some things to take to a charity shop tomorrow morning. My aim is 10, and if OH joins in and helps I hope to get to 20!
2. I don't have an under the stairs cupboard but our office is the room that needs the most attention I think so that is going to be my blitz area this weekend, filing done, anything that doesn't belong in there gone and under my desk which has become a dumping ground sorted!
3. I've arranged to take some specialist books to a book shop tomorrow afternoon so hopefully they'll be interested in those. Do this and hopefully come back with some cash. I then need to actually list the books I didn't take to the oxfam bookshop the other week as I they looked worth listing on Amazon or GM but I haven't listed yet and they won't sell if I don't!
4. There are some bits on the book shelves in the little bedroom that should be in my 'special' box from things from my childhood - need to try and get those put away and then we'll have a couple of empty book shelves - good for things from the office.
5. 4 of my 7 ebay things will sell so far - relist anything that doesn't and the duplicate item from last week I did on second chance offer but they didn't respond, and then do a couple more of the bits I don't mind listing for 99p - starting to run out of those though - need a free listing day!
Phew - I'll report my progress later in the weekend! Happy decluttering everyone.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

My bedroom is the one place I do actually keep sort of tidy although I had to confess to having LOOOOADS of storage - built in wardrobes and drawers that hold TONS, a lovely bed with 4 huge drawers full of storage, and last year I bought lovely matching and very plain storage boxes from Ikea for on top of the wardrobes.
I was inspired by a 5* hotel I once stayed at (paid for by work ) - it just felt so relaxing not to be looking at all the clutter, that I got home, copied their decoration scheme and sorted out my bedroom - it's now my sanctuary from the rest of the house - which is a nightmare.
I would come and sort out your bedroom if you would do my cupboard under the stairs!! It's a hefty challenge for me this weekend. I'm scared...:(
Hi Julie
Now if only we weren't so far apart I would definitely do your cupboard under the stairs in exchange for you doing my bedroom.
I really need to tackle it and be quite ruthless, will hopefully get started this weekend, but am out with friend's tomorrow and then have a kid's birthday party on Sunday, but little and often and I shall get there, I hope0 -
Can't believe how well everyone's doing :T
Just bracing myself for DS1 going to Cadet Camp this weekend - I can actually get into his bedroom without interference and sort it out!Although I must admit that some of the stuff in there is what I boxed up before Xmas to hide it out of the way.

juliebunny wrote: »Wow you have a cellar - totally cool! We had one of them when I was a kiddie and it was crammed with stuff! Well, I don't have a loft either (I have loft envy of people who do) or a cellar, so my cupboard under the stairs (which is full height and about the size of a small loo room) bears the weight of all my 'hmmm' stuff! I took a pic of it tonight and am umming and ahhing whether to post it to motivate me for the weekend (or shame me into dealing with it!)
Maybe you could tackle the cupboard under the sink instead......:D
I live in a building with 16 flats and we each have a small storage room in the cellar. It's about 2.5mx1.5m and has wooden slats instead of walls.Although below ground, each room has a window.I'm always worried about damp down there and often have the window open in the day and also have a non-electric dehumidifier always in place.
I do store a lot of foodstuffs there.I have a lot of shelves and two cupboards.
It actually needs a really good declutter as well, but I'd rather sort out my flat first!
The cupboard under the sink is ok.I do have a popcorn-maker that I've only ever used once,so I think that can go.
Looking forward to a lovely weekend of decluttering!0 -
Hello again,
Been to work today (and for the next 7 for that matter!), however just wanted to say I'm still shredding ..... at least I will be if the shredder can cope - it's making funny noises so I'm coaxing and praying.
I will be thinking of those doing the understairs challenge or equivalent - very inspiring and I will be with you in spirit.
Thank you for listening xx0
