I think technically they cant touch the mortgage as it is a seperate agreement. If it is in arrears they will have the right to set off any refund against that though.

    Good luck :)
  • fortunately not in any arrears so thank god for that m getting ready to send my second letter of now not waiting there 8 week time scale
    thanks alot
  • Hi, this is my first post at this forum.

I have a few accounts at Nationwide, the most important being a joint account with my husband with all the direct debits to pay all the bills in our life. While I really want to claim charges, I am worried about losing the account. Also, NW does have good rates for overdrafts compared to other "banks".

    So a few questions:

One, should I change all our direct debits before I start the process of claiming, or can I wait a while?

Is there another account at another bank with good OD interest rates that I would be advised to change to?

Is it important to get moving now, before the ruling about this happens?

Thanks for your feedback in advance. I think that I will have a significant amount to reclaim. NW have been charging OTT fees when cheques bounce for instance.

I need a bit of encouragement! It all seems a bit scary.

  • Hi
Yes the nationwide closed my flexi account as soon as they repaid my money
    regards

  • Capital One closed my Visa Card as soon as they paid up over 500 quid.
  • Last night I went on moneyclaim online and started off my claim with Halifax. The are in the process today in sending it to them :j :T Im so scared though! They said they havent received my letter even though I posted it recorded delivery and have a copy of a signature. Not my fault they lost the letter I aint sending it again (this happened on the 10th day). So court proceedings started today.

Not too bothered about them closing my account as have others I can use but what about my credit card, owe £1800 they cant demand this can they (im not in arears either).

I THOUGHT I WOULD LET YOU KNOW THAT AFTER RE-CLAIMING £800 FROM NATIONWIDE THEY DECIDED TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT. AFTER READING ABOUNT THE ABBEY HAVING TO PAY COMPENSATION FOR DOING THIS I DECIDED TO CHALLENGE THE DECISION. I SENT A LETTER ALONG THE LINES OF
You say I am unwilling to conduct my account in accordance with your terms and conditions. Would your decision be based on the fact that I have just recovered unfair bank charges from yourselves or based on the whole history of the account?
I feel to that your decision to close my account in retaliation to reclaiming unfair bank fees would be unfair and retaliatory.
ETC ETC WITH A FEW FACTS ABOUT OVERDRAFT REVIEWS, BALANCE OF MY ACCOUNT NOW ETC
HOPE THIS HELPS ANYBODY THAT WOULD LIKE TO KEET THEIR ACCOUNT OPEN BUT STILL RE-CLAIM CHARGES:rotfl:
