Psidoc the law is quite clear in this regard.
Put a gate up the problem goes away as my FIL discovered (rollover RTC outside his house which he witnessed whilst working on sorned classic car on driveway - traffic plod that attended RTC pointed the above out to him)
Probably unlikely to be enforces in wild west unless something happens and then its just something else on the charge sheet. S Wales police have certianly used it to seize vehicles.0 -

I have a 300ft drive to my property which has no gates. I have 6 vehicles which are all on SORN. Are you seriously telling me that this is against the law as the public has access. Sorned vehicles must not be parked on public roads. I think I'm with PsiDOC on this one.0

Do you expect your postman to be insured when he drives up your 300ft drive a few inches past your SORNed cars?
He must have 3rd party liability on private land to cover damage to other people's property. Same applies to those who own the vehicles on the land in case one rolls down and smacks his parked mail van.
No more posts from me here.....Check post 64....I don't make the rules.

SORN vehicles come under the vehicle excise registration law 1994, which specifically states "Public Roads" so a vehicle needs road tax to be on a public road but if it is not a public road it does not need road tax (But might need to be Sorned).
The RTA has a wider definition0 -

:wave::wave::wave: Tara from me too!
Public liability stops on the BOUNDARY of the property. If the postie comes onto your property he does so at his own risk and therefore YOU do not require insurance.
Why do you think in the "I'll sue you" culture of the USA they mostly have a postbox at the entrance to the property so as the postie does not need to enter said property? Else they can refuse to deliver.Near a tree by a river, there's a hole in the ground.
