Afternoon all
I need to update my signature with a £30.87 spend yesterday.
I bought the tea bags which was on offer in Tesco. They also had tuna - 4 for £3 - and Special K @ £1.45 a box, so I picked up a couple of these too.
I ordered a book off Amazon, which came today, called:
How to feed your whole family a healthy, balanced diet with very little money......... by Gill Holcombe.
I've had a brief look through and it seems pretty good. There is a recipe for Orange Squash soup, using butternut squash. It sounds  so I will be making this today
Hope you're all having a good day. Not sure I will be able to catch up on all the posts, as there's so many and so little timebut will give it a go

Agree here.

I cut them in to wedges and toss them in olive oil with other root veg, season and roast in the oven. I even eat them baked in the oven, then cut open and add a knob of butter like a normal jacket potato.
Rosieben -I do not think you post too often, I find your posts useful and informative:D It is nice to know when I post a recipe it has been put in the recipe list for others to use:)
Been to Mr M and Mr S to get the food for the detox. Spent £60.06 in Mr M, this included £7.99 on a jar of Manuka 10 honey:eek: which is included in the GC and £1.78 on wrapping paper which is not. Then I forgot to hand over my £5 voucher, what a silly moo I am. Spent £13.22 at Mr S on the bits I couldn't get at Mr M, mainly baby food stuffs.
I found the range of organic stuff limited at Mr M and a bit inconsistent. I could get organic tom puree but not organic tinned toms????? Hardly any fruit/veg is organic but was able to pick up a fairtrade melon and bananas(which were free as the girl on the till couldn't get the bar code to work and the supervisor couldn't be bothered to get a price for them:D).
Vatable items bought today were sweets (day-before-the-diet treat:o), toothpaste, teething gel, spring water, fruit juice, lip balm, gift wrap and suprisingly I thought, organic baby rice cakes.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Hi everyone
I have just spent another 26.58 today between Mr T and getting milk from local shop (its cheaper:)).
Can I ask please if anyone has bought Mr T own brand cat food (the one in the little square tin)? I bought 2 today as they are only 19p each and if our cat takes to these instead of the usual w****s he eats i should save a fortune:D
I am really enjoying this challenge as i have been very careful shopping and have (more or less) kept to my meal plan this week. Let's just hope it lasts.Payment A Day £15 (started 17/5/14) :j0 -

how does everyone do their months? i have been doing this for the month of jan as the challenge follows each month.or am i better off going from pay day to pay day? or does it not matter?
I actually find it easier to find a recipe when you post Rosieben cause I look for your name after a recipe post and know I must be near one. So please dont stop posting it helps me TONS being a newbie to this challenge.
thanks to everyone who posts or moderates on here it is a very big help.0 -

You do monthly meal plans?! Im impressed...ive just done my first fortnightly one and struggled to come up with ideas, get everything we needed, and put it all away in the kitchen, I spent a good few hours yesterday planning and shopping and I had still forgotten things lol, and im going to have to re arrange my plan because I was planning on freezing some of the meat, but it wont all fit in the freezer! Is it just practice?!January grocery challenge- £338.09/£350

it will be fine for months, although it may lose a little flavour if kept for a very long time
edited to add, because this thread is so huge I'm trying to reduce the number of times I post, so in future I won't confirm when I've added a recipe to the front page thread; if you've posted a recipe and it isn't in the list within 48 hours please feel free to give me a kick up the rear
someone sort of joked that I was taking over the thread because I post so often; I don't have anything much to offer in terms of original advice but because I'm one of the many volunteer indexers on here, I know my way around the threads quite well and can often come up with a useful link in response to a query. I'm open to suggestions as to whether I should post less or not?
Dont you dare post any less than you do, Rosieben, I love your posts and appreciate all the work you put into the thread:TLong_tall_sally wrote: »Rosieben - I find that comment of you taking over the thread rather rude to be honest, even if it was made jokingly! I certainly don't think you post too often (if there is such a thing!) and always find your posts useful. Please continue to post as often as you want to! And thanks again for your VOLUNTARY services to this thread.
I second everything LTS has said!
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0
