If you've ever wondered what to do with your fruit peelings, stitching witch posted this great recipe for Compost Heap Jelly on the really old style thread - I've added it to the front page index ;)

Let me know how it is! I think i'm going to make fresh regardless. :D

How many does that amount serve? There is only 2 of us here!

Definitely make it, bramble. It was :drool::drool: The nicest pasta I have ever had.

DD2 was really happy - she helped make it.

The recipe said it served four. There's three of us and we only ate half of it, so I would say it could serve six, but maybe depends on what your portion size is like.

    :)

Made my own ice cream from some short dated eggs and cream that was OOD today, also used some left over caramel that I made for pavlova last night, turned out well - kids ate it!

How did you make your ice-cream, please supersally01.

I've tried making it before from a recipe on here but it didn't turn out too well.

Hi all, spent £1 on eggs yesterday but will be going shopping today properly.

I got home on the 31st and had a rather nasty surprise: my freezer is acting up! Soups and veg wwere still frozen, but meat seemed to be slightly defrosted like it wasn't quite cold enough? Everything is mostly frozen again now and I put ~4 steaks and ~4 pieces of fish in my neighbours freezer, and left some chicken legs in my fridge to full defrost. But i don't know if i can eat any of it! It's around £15 worth of meat/fish that I don't want to waste but don't want to get ill eating :( At msot is could have been there for a week defrosting

morning everyone, banana muffins cooling at the moment. House smells lovely.

    Sounds lovely, highland fling.

Another recipe I would like, please, as I have some bananas that need to be used. Is it your own recipe, or one off here?

No, just an inch or so of apple juice and a bit of seasoning. I cooked it on high for about 5 hours then put it in the oven for about 20 mins with some honey and dijon mustard smeared over it. That was a smaller joint though, so I may cut this one in half and freeze before I cook it.

    That sounds really nice, rachel.

I will definitely be giving this a go.

What did you soak the joint in overnight, please?

    ..................................................

It should be another NSD here, today.

I will need some milk, but hopefully have enough left until tomorrow. I also want to make some yoghurt, so need the milk for that too. Hopefully, it will just mean a trip to the corner shop and only buying the milk :D

Congrats Toddles, what lovely news for the New Year.

NSD for me yesterday and hopefully the same today. Tomorrow will probably be going to Aldi and possibly Lidl to see what they have in.

I have changed my GC dates for this year and will now be working 1st - 31st, rather than 28th - 27th as in the past. This is due to changes in OH pay day which made it more confusing the old way.

Have been sorting out the fridge to make sure no leftover are wasted. The lamb from yesterday is now a box of slices for sarnies (DS has taken some for work this aft) and the dodgy looking bits have been frozen minced with the gravy in a dish so that it is ready just to top with mash for a shepherds pie. I have a few yogurts that need eating but that is about all now.

    God luck for 2011 everyone.

Good morning all :) hope you are all well. I hope it to be a low spend grocery day today. I am going to make a chicken in white wine casserole and have everything in the house to do that. I wonder whether a nice warm soda bread would be nice as well? I may knock that up too a bit later.

Going to have a mooch into town and see what there is about up there. Maybe pop into poundland then take a look into argos and m&s. I need some kitchen towel and a bottle of cola but that should be about it.

I may need to do an oat bath tonight, my skin has erupted in excema and so need something to stop the itching. Oh well here's hoping!

Anyway hope you all have a great day! Will pop in later to see how things are going! :)
