    Hi

    Can i join this please??

I've not done this challenge before and will probably end up spending way more than id like so am hoping by signing up for this it may help me reign in my spending and see just how much money im wasting.

Can you put me down for £120.00 for January and for the first time im actually going to try and go to the shops with a list and with cash only so that if i've not got it i can't spend it! This is for 2 adults for food and drink only.

I am pretty stocked up with food in the cupboards but the fridge is nearly empty but i don't intend to go shopping until Thursday so will try and make do till then.

Can you put me down for £200 please for Jan, I've already done the months shop so I'll dig out the receipt and add to my signature at some point tomorrow. It came out at about £125 I think which will leave it really tight for the rest of the month but all the main meals and majority of dinners are sorted so just have to batten down the hatches and stay well clear of anywhere that accepts money, lol.

This budget is for 2 adults, 2 children with hollow legs, Very large dog, aquarium of fish, parrot type bird, goldfish and includes all toiletries cleaning and household products.

Here is the recipe as requested:

    Cheese and Parsnip Loaf

    1 tblsp oil
    1 large sliced onion
    175g SR flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 tsp thyme leaves
50g parmesan or mature cheddar, finely grated
    175g parsnip, grated
    1 medium egg, beaten
    2-3 tbsp milk
    Freshly ground black pepper

Pre heat oven to 180/Gas 4.

Fry the onion until lightly coloured, about 10 mins. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

Mix together flour, salt, thyme, cheese, parsnip and add some pepper then the onion and the egg. Make a soft dough by adding the milk. You might need a bit extra milk. Shape into a round and put on an oiled baking sheet.

Bake for about 40 to 45 minutes until it is golden brown and sounds hollow when you knock the bottom.

Eat warm with lots of butter.:p

Oooh this sounds lovely - can I ask is the parsnip already cooked or do you put it in raw??

Put it in raw, like you would do with carrot cake:)

I am trying a HFW cheaty spongy sour dough loaf this morning, well it will be afternoon by the time it is ready. If it works I will make a sour dough starter so that I can get into more of a routine of bread making so it is ready/fresh when we want to eat it. Just need to warn DH that there is a bowl in the airing cupboard on top of the towels:eek:

I like the idea of the box for Jan a previous poster mentioned :T I will do this in October for next January, may do a freezer drawer and box for Jan and will start a box in March for our 2 week caravan holiday in the summer too.

NSD yesterday, don't need anything today. We may go for a walk later or to a NT place as we are members. Must not enter the cafe, must not enter the cafe.......:o
