Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 29th Dec. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Can't believe that no one else has started the daily before me - has everyone been watching the cricket or something? More fog here and lots of rain today - hope that those who are ill are on the way to recovery. Seems like the tummy bug has passed on to my youngest now.
Really pleased with my sale trip yesterday - got the dress I had seen on the M&S website for NYE (had a gift card for most of it), popped into Hobbycraft and got some bits to make presents for next year and then in Boots I got a couple of gifts and was able to use my points to pay for it all - yipeee!
Hope that those who are unwell are feeling much better - make sure that you're drinking enough fluid and keep warm and snuggly. Love and hugs xx

Good Morning All.
Awake most of the night with horrid cough and cold - feeling sick as well. Terribly disappointed as we were due to meet up with some old friends at their daughter's house today. Daughter has a small baby so I really can't inflict myself on them.
May well go the the surgery - being asthmatic this always ends up as a chest infection - may as well get the stuff organised especially as the surgery will be closed over the New Year.
Ought to catch up with the ironiing, very little to do in fact, but it would be good to keep on top of it.
Hope you all have a good day today. Snow is rapidly receding around the garden! Take care.Resolution:

Morning folks, bet your all snuggled up cosy and here am I up and about off to work. Not much happening these days, thankfully! Ordered a few bits and bobs from ebay for doing some sewing. Got a sewing machine for christmas and cant wait to use it, but unfortunately our local craft shop doesnt have any inspiring material. The weather is mild and damp, but at least the snow is disappearing. Tatties are on, carrots are on and meat is out of freezer ready for tonights tea. Tumble dryer is on, dishwasher on and the kettle will be on again as I need another cuppy. Its a mad scramble to get everything done in the morning as our electricity tariff changes to day units at 7 o'clock - a saving of 6p per unit if I can get things done early enough, which is about half price.
Hope you all have a good day,

Good morning.
Beemuzzled, sorry you are feeling so poorly. It always seems to happen when you have got something nice to do. I understand what you mean about asthma and colds, it can very easily need doctor for antibiotics.
Well, the kitchen is still a work in progress. Got some shelves up so more cupboards sorted, and metal tins put out for the scrap metal chaps on their usual route around here. I was so tired yesterday, I didn't get so much done as I had planned.
Hopefully going out with my DS1 and fiancee to look for nice card and paper for their wedding invites, if the place is open today. Will find out in an hour.
Been foggy here all evening through to now, and rain all evening too, so will be a bit boggy when I go up to let chickens out. I thought they had been laying less recently until I found one clucking in the far corner of the greenhouse. I pulled everything out of the way and found 5 eggs!! It seems that they have been finding new places to lay, which makes an interesting hide and seek each day.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning all
Another dull, dreary, rainy start here. And another night's disturbed sleep. It's as if my body doesn't know what to do with time off!defo starting my diet today
Me too. I'm dreading standing on the scales but it's gotta be done. I'm following Slimming World (but by myself, not classes) and am having fried eggs on toast for breakfast. I've decided to bribe myself :rotfl: I want to loose a stone by end of Feb, if I do that, AND exercise minimum 3 times a week then I will buy the Pandora bracelet that I want. It's £40 and I could buy it now with my Xmas money but I want to give this a try!
I have absolutely no plans for todayI think it will be a bit of a spring clean kinda day. If I go to the recycling centre then I'll pop to shops for a quick wander round sales too. I want to go to gym too, but I'm not sure if it is open as it's a council run one. I'll ring them at 9 to find out. I don't fancy a walk in the rain so hoping it is open!
OS wise - tidying and sorting aside, not very much. Hob needs a clean.
Hope all the poorlies feel better soon
Have a great day all

other than that clearing up is still happening. the dishwasher is on its second load this morning an dthe washing machine and tumble dryer are both going. just enjoying a moments peace before the boys awaken.
hope everyone is well and has a good day
ETA what diet do you all follow? your own or do you join slimming groups?"I have learnt that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one""You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.”Maya Angelou0 -
Morning all, back home for today and tomorrow then off again to Dds.Must get my New Year deep clean finished ,hopefully today.I am popping down to the Savacentre to try and get my DD an amaryllis (sp).and also a new liverpool hat for Henry (dgs). No food shopping though as my cupboards and fridge/freezer are full to bursting at the moment.
Hope all the poories get better soon I know there is a nasty virus going around ,touch wood so far its missed me.My eldest DGS Danny was struck down with it a week before Christmas and he's only just got over it.He ended up taking to his bed ,something he hasn't done since he was a little boy. He's 20 and normally just shrugs off any colds but this one was a nasty one he still looks a bit pale .
Well time to toddle
Have a good one whatever you are doing today

morning all:j:j
Its been raining here again and all the snow has now gone from the garden and the road outside. Not bad it had beeen on the ground for over a week. The garden looks very strange without it now.
I had a very bad night and only got about 3 hours sleep. My legs were killing me. Still not much i can do about it now apart from have an early night tonight.
We are off on the train to worster. Its about 20mins on the train. It been awhile since we last went. We normaly go and do some of our christmas shopping there but because of the wether we never made it this year so we are going to have a look at the sales. Also we wont to get the twins out into the fresh air for a few hours.
We have a very big indoor shopping center not far from were we live but there is nothing like shopping out in the open.
The sweet and sour pork hong knog style that my wife did out of the hairy bikers moms know best cook book was lovley and we will do it again at some point. The moms know best cook book has some lovley ideas in it. there are a few more in the that we intend to try.
We shall be having lunch out today. and at the moment we have no plans for dinner tonight it all deprnd on what time we get back.
I hope taht you all have a good day whater you are doing.
enjoy:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0
