  • Thanks closed, im not very technical, could i pm you for more advice if i need it?

Please dont argue on my thread, I actually found the sentence comforting as i know i will get most of my info back through my backups, no matter how it was intended.
  • oh sorry and no, the vents arent blocked. i have one of those little tables it sits on with fans underneath since it burned me, it still gets boiling hot.

Sorry loztiggy, but the post wealdroam made was not meant to be comforting. Hopefully your hard drive is not dead but if it is, it will be unlikely that your data will be restored, unless you do actually have backups.
  • Closed: iv just searched using my babys name and there are photos showing up, although they arent where i left them and i cant see where they are stored. so i will take it to pc world and ensure all my files are recovered, thats that sorted hopefully.

Im still concerned about sending it off for repair for the overheating issue

I'd advise you to back them up yourself if they are important, before they factory restore it or it gets lost in the system

  • how do i get to them? there are over a thousand photos i had and most of them numbered, so i cant remember them by "name" any help you could give would be most appreciated. Im not sure how pc world do it but its supposed to cost over £100 and they take it in and pull all the files off, then i would be given it back as i handed it in, and have to send it to the techguys to get it fixed for the heating issue.

presumably they are under the same folder (if not search for *.jpg), burn it to a dvd, copy it to an external hard disk etc.

PC World if they do it properly would probably take the disk out and put it in a usb disk caddy, or as it boots just do as I suggested

    And your advice was?

    Sorry I missed it.
The OP mentions this-I have data recovery with the extended warranty, so i can get that sorted, thanks. not so worried about the data, apart from some files most of my photos etc will be on facebook.

    So Wealdroam is right.
