  • That's great he got the payrise. Just imagine how minted you will be when you are debt free :j. That's what I keep thinking about and I can't wait.

I applied for the vote counting and you get £96 after tax so that would be great. I have been helping out a friend this weekend and earned £60 so far so I have paid £50 from Argos as I said and will pay another ten during the week. I'm helping again tomorrow so should get another £45 or so then and will pay that off too. This is a great boost to me as it means that this weekend I will have managed to pay £105 to Argos that I wasn't expecting to :D. This will be a great start to my challenge. I am hoping this time that I will manage to complete it. If I do then Argos will be completely clear and my SONY will be down to £800 :D. My snowball has that clearing next January but if I manage this it will bring that date forward to November or earlier. That's fabulous and that is what I will be trying to do.

I have a wedding in June. The hen night is in May so I am going to need a few pounds for that lot. I'm really looking forward to it though as the couple are really nice and lovely friends. I was talking to her tonight and the wedding is only 8.5 weeks away . I have lost 2 stones and would love to lose another 1.5 stones before then. I have 9 weigh ins so I would need to lose 2lbs+ each week. That's perfectly doable so long as I manage to stick to the plan :D

Wow you have been busy, it's great that you have managed to earn some extra money this weekend. Good luck with the weight loss you have done really well will you be treating yourself to a new outfit.
We have a wedding to go to in September and I was looking at a dress on ebay yesterday I found one from monsoon I tried one on last year in the shop it fitted so well but it was £175 but i couldnt justify that much, im hoping i will win this one as it at £24.99.

  • I'll definitely be buying a new outfit. I fancy a nice dress with a bolero type jacket. No way will it be £175 . I am hoping to do the dress, shoes and bag for under £100. Big ask but hey needs must and even if I lose 1.5 stones for the wedding I will still have more to lose so would probably only wear outfit once.

Only 1 spend today of £4.20 for a battery . Need it for my scales so it was essential. I've paid £50 already to Argos from my weekend earnings and will pay the other £55 as soon as it hits my account. I'm not working all weekend and not taking full advantage of it by paying it off a debt. Would be so nice to buy something for myself though :rotfl:. But no, no , no it is all going to Argos. I am knackered mind you but no pain no gain. :D

I won the dress £24.99 so really pleased. Your doing so well that Argos card will be gone before you know it and it will spur you on to the next one.

  • :jto winning the dress. That's fab. I have no idea what size I am going to be so I will wait until June to shop. Probably wait until week before the wedding :rotfl:.

My mum asked me today if I had money troubles :rotfl:. She was wondering why I was trying to make extra cash. I must give off the persona of being canny with money but not short of money ( i hope that makes sense). I just looked at her whilst my mind was racing as to what I was going to say. I couldn't tell her just how much I owe as she would worry herself to death about it. I told her I had 2 credit cards and one was crippling me with interest, so it is partly true. She has now loaned me the £1300 to pay off SONY (29%) and I will pay her it back a £100 per month for 13 months. I will need to raise my monthly payments to £575 per month to accomodate this, but I've been overpaying more than that anyway. This is resulting in my DFD coming back by nearly 3 months  saving me £1650. So I am continuing with my 100 day challenge at the same rate as I was going to but I will pay the money to Tesco CC after Argos has gone instead. Although I am elated at the HUGE difference this is making to my DFD I am feeling really guilty for lying to my mum but I cannot tell her the truth as she is really ill and it would literally kill her worrying about me and I know she would cut back on her spending to help me out and at this stage of her life I am not having that. So big lesson for me here and it is really spurring me on even more to sort myself out once and for all.

So today I have paid £33 to Argos and I have £22 in my purse in cash that I can pay on Thursday as other money will be in my account and I can keep the cash I have and that will be all my £105 from extra earnings paid off of debt :j. Argos is now at £105.86 and when I pay the £22 it will be at £83.86. Once I do my sums for the month I may be able to just pay that off and I will be thrilled :D. Fingers crossed it all works out :).

Good for Mum!! She must be so pleased she can help you. I'm in the same boat - could never tell my parents about my debts, they would be horrified!
    Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.62

  • I agree that there's no need for her to know. I am hoping too that my kids watching me struggle will teach them to be careful in future.

When I spoke to my mum earlier she asked why I was suddenly pushing so hard to clear this. I said I reckoned it was because at last I have realised that there is no help coming form my ex so I need to do this alone and I want to do it as quickly as I can. That is true I reckon but it took talking to her for me to admit this to myself. It is heart breaking to think that the man I loved and married, who was more desperate than me to have children has cared so little for them over the years, but hey I'm finally getting there I reckon by moving on and hopefully now I am that I do it a t a gallop. I'm doing well so far as far as I am concerned. Thanks for the support guys. I appreciate it hugely xx

  • Sea, I reckon its because we feel so stupid for allowing this to happen to us. I am an intelligent person and it embarrasses me that I have allowed this to get so out of hand. But hey lesson learned.
