  • I know. Am so pleased on all counts. She has 3 jobs now but I am going to make her give one up as it is too much. She is sitting her Highers this year and needs time to study. She will give up the one with my friend but she can work there during holidays if she is needed. Sorted, She wants to do all 3 but no way!! Might just tell her that if she dooes all 3 then she can give me dig money :):):)

  • I forgot to say I had more money saving news tonight. I gave one of the guys in work a lift a couple of times last week as his car was in garage, he has rescued me in the past and we are good friends. He called tonight and said that since we were both in training for a few weeks why didnt we car share? Why didnt I think of that? Duh !! So car sharing it is which means for 2 weeks from the next four I will hardly need to pay any petrol :D:D.

  • Great- petrol is sooo expensive now- how much will you save a week?
And well done to your DD on her job. How old was she when she took her fist job? My DS is nearly 15 but hasn't shown many signs of wanting a part-time job. I suggested he could do dog walking/ cutting grass (in Summer)- he did put up a card in the post office but got no response (maybe it's the "14 year old boy" bit that puts people off).

  • Hi TH. I will save about £20 per week:D when it's my week off. Started it today as I already had bought petrol for this week and guy I was sharing with had not. Will work a treat as we get on well.

DD had a wee job delivering a weekly newspaper when she was 13. She then worked in a chip shop when she was 14. It was only for 3hrs one night per week. She then went into another job in a laundry outfit, owned by one of my close friends, but it is usually only reliable in the summer. I had told her she would need to get something that would take her all year round as she would need to think about long term and working through college/ uni etc. My friend then got her 1 night in local shop but again it was only 3 hrs. So hours up until now are pretty sporadic and she wanted something steadier hence the new job. So short answer is 13 ( but of course I went all round the houses and bored you to death to get there:o) . So a few things for the CV already :rotfl:. DS is desperate to get a wee paper round and he turned 13 in December so he is actively seeking one at the minute.

Boys are so different from girls though. At 13 my daughter was doing her ironing as well but there is no way that my son has the manual dexterity to even try. Much to my daughter's disgust I may add.:D. My secret was that if they wanted money they would have to earn it as there's sparse spare cash in this house. I have always given them pocket money but it was really just enough for a magazine and some sweets or a swimming trip. Some of their friends get astonishing amounts of pocket money. I believe in working for money ( must be the job I do ) and my poor kids get nothing for nothing :rotfl:( well they do obviously but not a lot ). But hey it will not do them any harm and will hopefully instil in them a strong work ethic for the future.

I have spent lunch money for the kids only today so I count a £30 spend on a Monday and that sees us through the week. I have a small problem though as I only have £27.59 left now from shopping budget . I've only got until next Monday to go but it will be tight. I am really pleased though at how well I have managed this month as I started off with £350 on 30.12.10 and will have got through 5 weekends by the time I start my new budget. I have also spent £114 on school lunches within that and been out for my dinner once and lunch once (£27). So in reality I have only spent £209 om 5 weeks shopping :jGo me !! I get paid next Monday so I will stock up my freezer with butchermeat then. Going to DS's school tonight as he has to pick his standard grade subjects for this year. I can't believe he is that age already :(

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never sat through anything so boring in my life. I resorted to childish behaviour and was fidgeting, texting how bored I was to anyone and everyone :). DS refused to go as it would be boring . Well how right he was. It was bl**dy awful. I might have been okay if I hadn't sat in a training class all day as well. I am knackered now and want some chill time. But I doubt I'll get it :)

  • NSD today :j. Only spend yesterday was £30 for week's lunches for kids. I am pleased with that. I will take lumches from home all week so shouldn't really have any more spends except petrol until the weekend. Here's hoping anyway.

Shattered.com tonight. This training is sucking the life out of me. I am no good umless I am motivated and I nearly fell asleep in class today :o.

Got my payslip amd have £22 extra in it this month. I willpay that straight off of ARGOS . I have £66 to pay before end of month to reach my target. I could use my wage as I get paid on 31st but I would love to be able to do it without using wages as I will need them for next month's payments. I'll do my damndest :D

  • Hi folks. Only spend today is for petrol £15. I jave spent £91.01 this month on petrol :eek:. I had no idea I was spending that much. I will end the month with an empty tank too so I reckon in future I will need to budget for around £100 per month for petrol anyway. I will save some next month as 2 weeks of it I am getting a lift to work so it will be interesting to see what difference that will make :D.

So thismonth so far here are my spends:
    Petrol - £91.01
Food shopping and school lunches - £302.01
    Sundries - £25.72
    Clothes - £20.00
    Socialising - £67.00
    Presents - £37.35

I have only 1 gift to buy this coming month for my brother so £15 should cover that. I have a couple of nights out but I could take car and not get involved in buying rounds of drinks etc. I have no plans to buy any clothes as we are all okay at the minute and shopping and kids lunches should be less as it is a shorter month so I will reduce my budget to £300 and see how I get on. Cupboards, fridge and freezer are getting a bit bare mind you. I have been using up everything in sight rather than buying. I think I will actually split that budget. I will allow myself £250 per month for food, any takeaways etc and school lunches will be separate. I'll see how it goes. £250 sounds like a lot of food but it goes nowhere these days, especially with 2 hungry teens in the house. I must admit I am really proud of the two of them. I stopped buying fizzy juice at the weekend and also no sweets or crisps amd they have both been fab about it. I really thought I might be inciting a riot but no.:T. I'm going to take it easy tonight and just chill. Doing a couple of loads of washing but that's easy.
