  • Thanks Jelly. She is doing well just now so I am trying to be all positive and enjoy the 'now'. Stu I have never seen the secret or read the book. What is the secret about?

Been for a haircut tonight. Been getting the CSA money from ex which has made a massive difference to my life. Not really done anything yet with it except get 'extras' and will use it over the next few weeks for Christmas but after Christmas I am just going to hammer it into my CC's and try and get rid of them once and for all :D.

I hope you are all good xx

I'm so sorry to read about your mum's illness. I hope she's comfortable as can be. It's obvious from reading your diary what a good relationship the two have you have - you taking her on lots of outings and her supporting you with a bit of money whenever she can. You must be a big support to each other and she will be proud to have such a lovely daughter and grandchildren.

Thinking of you - and too right don't even think about money or weight at this time.

  • Hi MIT so sorry to hear about your Mum. Will be thinking of you both x

    May 2013 new beginnings:j
  • hi folks. Thanks for the lovely messages. Mum is keeping her chin up and doing well at the minute. Loads of medical and nursing things have been put in place so she is lots more comfortable. We are all in a much better frame of mind this week as last week we thought things were imminent but hopefully she will at least see the year out. So here I am back on the wagon and trying to money save and keep weight steady ;). Seaxwyn, my mum and I are really close as my dad died when I was 13 so it has always just been her, my brother and I. Also because my husband and I split when DS was 2 and DD was 5 she is like their ther parent. She has been ill for a couple fo years and I have had a lot of care but in comparison to what she has done for me, it is nothing. Now obviously the care has increased ten fold but we have a really good rapport with our care services so they are being fantastically accomodating. We are very lucky :D.

So money saving has been cack :rotfl:I've put on about 10lbs but hey ho I was out on Saturday for the day with some friends and a young man chatted me up and reckoned I was 31 , I'm 46 . I was bloody delighted :rotfl:. Think he may have been a tad drunk but who cares I'm taking the compliment :rotfl:.
Ex has been paying the maintenance so all is well money wise, I just havent been using it wisely. We all have lots of social occasions coming up as well so I will just be careful and see how things go. I had overpaid Tesco so I called them tonight to refund the money and to see if I could get a balance transfer deal, No luck unfortunately so I just closed the account completely. So all in all we are on an even keel this week and long may it last. I hope everyone is doing good xx

  • 20 pounds in interest is fabulous.

Hope you are ok my lovely. Thinking of you. x
    Trying to shift that debt!
  • Thanks I'm fine. Mum on an even keel just now so I can cope :o.

What a day here. The floods are horrendous. I thought I was driving a boat this morning and almost got stuck in the water. It was climbing up my car door. Parts of this area people have been wading about in thigh high water . There's definitely advantages to living on the top of a hill :rotfl:. We'll see if I'm still saying that when the snow comes ;).

Been really bad at taking my lunch to work with me. I mean our canteen is the worst place in the world to eat but I just keep going back and spending my money on their cr*ppy grub. It'll show in my spends on lunches this month. That's my big goal for December, other than festive lunches then I am going to take lunch with me every day. At least it will be edible :D.

I am very disorganised re Christmas. I wish I was a non believer :rotfl:. I started off well but everything went t*ts up when mum got so bad. I'm going shopping this weekend with my friend so hopefully I'll get the majority of it then. I'm never going to manage to pay off my Christmas CC either before New Year but hey ho I'm not going to sweat it. My amount owed will still be thousands less than last year so all is good. At worst it'll add 2 months onto my DFD and that wont kill me.

How's everyone else getting on with theirs?

  • Forgot to mention that my wee group of friends gave me some money to pamper myself :o. I'm not really up for spending a fortune on pampering whilst I am so skint so I had decided to buy myself a kindle as I really fancy one. I have tonight changed my mind and I am getting a half chest freezer. I really know how to live huh!! :rotfl:. I'm always running out of freezer room and whilst the kids are still here I desperately need one. This means I can stock up on meat, bread, pizzas etc at the beginning of the month. I am going to have a real go at shopping monthly and then I will only have to visit Aldi weekly for my fresh stuff. That's the plan anyway so we will see how it goes. I'm going to do a monthly menu too and get ultra organised and have food ready in advance or at least defrosted so I can cook something or get DD to cook it for me coming in from work. I have spent loads this month on lunches and fast food and no way can it continue.

Anyway to this months spends. Not 100% accurate but should be quite close.

Food - £324 down by £67.51 on last month
    Miscellaneous- £180 up by £19.50
    Lunches - £181.10 up by £64.60
    Social - £200 down by £6
    Petrol - £140 up by £6.49
    Clothes - £28.50 down by £170.48
    Gifts - £14.50 down by £16.83

I've not included Christmas gifts as I have a separate budget for that. I need to do better in December as I am spending way too much on junk. Oh well times are tough :(
