Which is easier knitting or crocheting?

Nikki - it really isn't difficult - sure you could do it.
No idea which is hardest as I don't crochet.

Just started another Mug Cosy knitted in squares - just knit and purl, but it looks effective.
Will post a pic when I finish it as I'm planning to sew a selection of buttons in the squares. Got some that will suit some recipients when I give them as pressies.

  • abatha - i've never really got on with knitting i'm always dropping stitches or creating stitches but, so far (it's only been a few days and i haven't done more than single crochet stitches so nothing fancy) i'm finding crocheting a lot easier might just be me though.

u might have been taugh american stitch names, the british are different...
e.g a dc in american is a triple in british
a british dc is an american single crochet.

for tightnes i recommend using a bigger hook size till u get the hang of it.

Personally I find knitting easier, but I have been knitting since I was really small. I will be honest though, and say I think for someone coming to it new, crochet is probably easier to learn.
  • Just catching up with the thread after a mega busy week (which isn't over yet - DS' pirate party is tomorrow!), and thought I'd post my picture of the port and cheeseboard I put together for my dad's birthday yesterday.

    Craft001-1.jpg

Not the best photo in the world but I think it gets it across! I did have it wrapped up in cellophane like a hamper but forgot to photograph it till it had been unwrapped.

There's a small bottle of red wine and a tiny bottle of Cockburns port from Just Miniatures for £4.42, with two more little bottles of port from a box of four from M&S, reduced from £10 to £5. The cheeses and grapes are all from M&S too, and the wooden board is from Wilkinson - it came with three different sized knives, all for £3.75!!!! Overall very pleased with it and Dad was tickled pink as he does love his port and cheese!

Total cost was therefore £13.65, which was not too far over my budget of £12.50, so I'm happy!
I'm broke, not poor. Poor sounds permanent, broke can be fixed. (Thoroughly Modern Millie)

Cool - well Hello all fellow crafters! I've subscribed so I should be able to find you all again, and err, 'borrow' all your ideas.

Has anyone made these? Thought they looked cute and a good way of giving socks. Although I may draw the line at making my own socks....
