Hi Midnight, could you possibly do a quick guide to making soap, and what to buy? I really want to make soaps this year. Thanks in Advance :)

Hi. Are you sure you want lightweight rather than medium? Lightweight wont give you much stability. medium is your best bet if using normal weight cotton. Here is a link to the supplier I use if its of any use. You wont get it much cheaper than here TBH.
  • think you might be right PootleFlump medium weight might be better - haven't made any crayon rolls before so if anyone has and can let me know which is better it would be much appreciated!
Silence is golden...unless you have a toddler. In that case silence is very, very suspicious!

i really need to get myself sorted out
i like order, i like repetative
and i just cant seem to get things lined up since pre christmas

STILL having work done in the house
and hubby works away, so when he comes back, everything else grinds to a halt
i have 2 weeks before study leave starts (both teens will be at home for a month after that minus exam times) and again order will go out the window:D

I used wadding for my crayon rolls as it gave a padded feel to them. I did some quick quilting across the two fabrics on the machine once turned in the right way to keep it all together before I sewed on the pockets.

I've made a cheater's quilt for my daughters dolls cot. I worked on the theory that all that wadding and backing and stuff would take ages, so I sewed it all onto a plain pillow case, put one of those awful cheap flat pillows inside, sewed the lot up, and then sewed through it all to create that 'quilted' look. and it worked! I can't do photos yet,but i'll try to at some point. I was wondering if I could expand the idea and try it with a proper duvet... I feel an experiment coming on... that may potentially take over the entire living room!
