well the cheap curtains I ordered have arrived so I can get started on the crayon rolls and bags for my nieces. They'll easily be made out of the one curtain with fabric leftover - not bad for £3!

Where did you get them? I remember a couple of you talking about it. I want to make crayon rolls and a knitting one for my mum. :)

Do any of you guys use the crafting machines? Big Shot and the cuttle bug?

I'd managed with a Sidekick machine for ages but bought a Big Shot last year as I wanted to work with embossing folders and texture plates. Only regret is not having bought one sooner!

I have heard good things about the big shot. I would rather buy something that is worth the money and I will get what I need from it.

    Hello all :j
Love all your makes :T Afraid my 'crafting hat' fell off today due to rough night last night............plus disability allowance claim forms came that are a nightmare to read through let alone complete. Have rung ageuk and they're sending someone to help me with them.
Every intention of doing wonderful things with buttons but maybe tomorrow:)

I hope you feel better soon Mary. Sending hugs. I know what you mean about those sorts of forms. I haven't done a DLA one, but the Tax Credit ones are horribly confusing! I hope AgeUK get back to you soon and are able to help. Could someone in your family help you with it too?

We aren't allowed to post a link to our own blogs on the forum for some reason (forum rules not sure why?) anyway if you right click on my username at the top of this post there is an option to view my homepage. Click on that and that takes you to my blog. On the left hand side of my blog under catergories click on stockingfillers and that will take you to the post about the milshakes and my e-mail address to click on. if you drop me an e-mail i'll send you a copy of the template back by e-mail:D

Thanks for your kind comments about the calendar i will be doing a tutorial on my blog when i get a minute (yet another thing on my never ending list:rotfl:).

That's amazing! Thank you for your help :D Found and saved on my favourites. :D I'll pop you an email when I get chance. Your blog looks gorgeous! It always amazes me how nice everyone is on here. I think some people get far too competitive, whether it's about their hobby, family, children or looks. Very refreshing to meet some nice people for a change!

YoungOldLady, I have a lot started that I never got finished this year, that I intend to finish for next Christmas, the foodie ones I tend to do as I go (like jams and flavoured drinks, and hopefully more dried herbs from the plot this year) and at the last minute (cookies etc). But it's mostly that I have now got dedicated crafting (and office combined) space, so I want to have my little list of ideas for the year, and make things as I find spare hours here and there. Even 15 minutes at a go can be useful to cut a batch of things to sew later.

But, I had a similar long list last year and didn't finish lots on it!! :)

"Even 15 minutes at a go can be useful to cut a batch of things to sew later." That's a really good philosophy. :D Last year I found that keeping foodie gifts fresh was my main problem, so I ended up having to make the Christmas edible gifts all in several big batches right at the last minute. We live in an old terraced house that is affected by damp/mould, so no matter how carefully I stored things in the cupboards I couldn't stop the mould getting in. I had to remake 4 fruitcakes and our Christmas pudding a few days before Christmas!:eek: This year we're hoping to rent a new build so hopefully I won't have those problems this year.

To everyone who helped with the mug cosy idea - I started yesterday on a fleecy one mad from a sleeve of DDs old jumper. So far I've put a couple of hours into it and have hemmed 2 sides by hand.

Well I was engaged. Until we separated on 8th March :( Here's hoping that having a break will help us solve all our problems. Until then I'm a single mum on a tight budget :(

  • I must have a look in the craft shop for Christmassy things getting sold off cheap. I know that I was in another shop (on my way to a meeting so couldn't buy) yesterday that had lovely Christmassy jars reduced to just €2.50, so I will go back at lunch today to get those.

And DH always complains about the little bits of ribbons he finds around the place - I keep the ribbons you often now get for holding tags onto new clothes, or around boxes of sweets (like in the office!!) and cut off the ribbons for hanging clothes when I am getting rid of them (sometimes even while still using as the ribbons can be way too long on some things and just get in the way of wearing!). These are great for taggies, hanging loops, and other decoration bits.

youngoldlady - I could probably do them myself but I want to be sure that they're done right - the right wording and so on. I've got till Feb.(I think) and someone from ageuk will help -I'll ring them on Monday if I've not heard from them.

crafting hat fell off again today...........:( Am having a very painful and difficult ''walking'' day but thought I'd do some fabric hearts.......well first one I started on the material frayed everywhere........really put me off so I rang my friend instead. She's coming up tomorrow to wash my hair (and cut it I hope) -much needed and she just might help me get motivated :)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
