  • The Sony Amex statement always seems to be wrong. My first statement had 2000 points, I phone the Sony Pulse number (the one you call to request your MP3 player) and they confirmed my 8200 points, so ordered the MP3 player and cut up the card :) Arrived a few days later, quite snazzy!
  • Not only does the Capital One World MasterCard, give you cash back,it also
provides free World Wide Travel insurance, Lost Key insurance, and Collision Damage Waiver/Rental Car Excess.

With regards to the Travel insurance there appears to be no upper age limit, nor any requirement to disclose, any pre existing medical conditions, apart from a few specific problems.

All this seems too good to be true,so have I misread, the booklet,or missed something?
  • Just a word of warning so people aren't disappointed. The Sonycard catalogue where you can redeem points is not as good as it seems. The electrical products, including mp3 players, tend to be duff Sony items that have been discontinued because they are not very good. I have searched for reviews on several of the electrical items and they have all been very poor - unusual for Sony products!
  • Incase anyone's interested, I'm still waiting for my £50 high street voucher from Barclaycard. Their website says it will be posted out within 14 days of a spend on the card. Having chased them on the phone I was told it was 28 days - website appears to be inaccurate. It hasn't been 28 days yet - so I'm being patient!
  • Condition 1 of the Barclaycard Platinum t&c's is a little confusing:
This offer is only available to new customers taking out a Barclaycard Platinum with a 14 month 0% balance transfer offer (2.5% fee). Typical 14.9% APR variable.
Do you need to do the balance transfer, or can you just take out the card?

Also, is there a minimum income level required for Platinum cards? I don't want to apply if I'm going to be refused.

Have looked at thread listing reward cards and which are best...we have an alliance and leicester card and want to change it as they used to do cash back and now do points and it doesn't seem as good a deal. I prefer cash if poss...but wd I be better going for points with eg:Tesco. Obviously the card wd need o be widely accepted everywhere! Thanks
  • I would like to know too if you have to have a certan income to apply for that Barclaycard. Deadline is midnight today so would be very grateful if someone could let me know before then. Thanks.

Did you have confirmation of this offer when the paper work arrived? I didn't so I rang their (Asian) call centre to enquire whether I qualified for the offer but the guy I talked to didn't seem to know what I was talking about.
He went off for a few minutes and when he came back he confirmed that I would be sent a voucher 28 days after I made an initial purchase so I guess all is hunky dory.

got the card today but again no voucher info..just spent 24p on the card on an online website (bought prepaid printabel envelope from royal mail site). would i now qualify for the voucher or is it a min £1 spend..also i chose not to do a balance transfer..does that matter when claiming for the voucher...any links to terms and conditions for this offer?
  • I followed Martin's link to the MBNA Sony Mastercard application with the promise of 7,000 Pulsebeat points if I spend £250 on the card within 90 days of my account being opened. Martin mentioned that 7,000 will get a Sony 2GB MP3 player.

I have received my card & the accompanying letter states that I am entitled to 2,000 Pulsebeats for opening the account & using my card within 90 days but there is no mention of a further 5,000 Pulsebeats for meeting the above spending criteria.

Although Martin says that applications for the MP3 player are made direct to customer services & not via the Sony catalogue the MP3 player in the catalogue is only 256MB & costs 11,000 Pulsbeats.

Has anyone else applied for the above card during the latest promotion period & if so how many Pulsebeats did they give you?
