  • Hi Thomas Crown,

Thanks for letting is know about this, we are keeping our eye on this deal closely. The provider has assured us that the 5,000 points will be honoured after a £250 spend, but please let us know if you are told anything contradictory to this.

Any problems that occur with this card, we will be doing everything we can to get them sorted.

  • Thanks for your reply, MSE Dan.

Obviously I have been unable to see your reply during the last few days due to the site being down. I have written to the Sony Card Pulsebeat office in Diss, Norfolk, to see what they have to say.

I will post again on this thread when I receive their reply.
  • Hi,
I too have gone for the Sony offer, but went for the American Express version (still run by MBNA), but offering 2000 points when you activate and a further 9000 points when you first use the card https://wwwa.applyonlinenow.com/UKCCapp/Ctl/link?eid=75732625
I have just received the card but there is no mention of the 9000 points

This appears to be either a total scam or a monumental ****-up!

Applied for my Sony card three weeks ago and have met all the criteria but despite a lengthy phonecall to MBNA - have been told they have no info on how many points I have accrued or whether or not I will get my 2GB MP3 player.

In fact they were totally clueless and brushed me off by saying that I will have to wait for my first statement for any further info!

No line manager was available to speak to me - was promised a call back today - yeh I'm sure I'll get one!

Let this be a warning to others - do not go for these so called "free" CC offers because they just **** you - even worse your CRA status could be badly affected!

It is just not worth it - I have learnt my lesson.

MBNA can stick this card where the sun don't shine !!!

gussie, the Sony Card is issued by MBNA in Chester but the Pulsebeats awards are handled by Sony or their agents in Diss, Norfolk.

You don't automatically get a Sony 2GB MP3 player, you are awarded Pulsebeats & it is up to you how to spend them. The problem is getting the Pulsebeats in the first place.

It said when you applied that the extra points would be added on the first stament.
    Nice to save.

If everything goes according to plan (and I have misgivings about a deal which depends wholly on tracking online applications from one website), you need to make a purchase (no minimum amount, but not a cash advance or withdrawal) by 30/11. They should then send you a voucher application form within 14 days. You select which store's vouchers you want, and send the form back to them by 31/12. They should then send you the voucher within 14 days.

The £50 voucher deal and the T&Cs for it are on the Barclaycard website, but only if you use the link via Moneysupermarket. I have taken screen prints to prove I used the correct route, for when things go "pear shaped".
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

Sorry asharon but the T&Cs on the Sony Card website don't mention anything at all about the points (Pulsebeats) being added to the first statement.

O.K. so 2,000 points should be on the first statement but a card holder has 90 days to spend £250 on the card in order to receive a further 5,000 points.
    This equates to 3 statements.

The welcome pack with the card should state how to claim a 2GB Sony MP3 for 7,000 points but there is no mention of it whatsoever! As previously posted there is a 512MB Sony M3P player for 11,000 points on page 10 of the Pulsebeats catalogue but Martin says not to use the catalogue.

The welcome letter I have received states; ''To get you started there are 2,000 BONUS points waiting to be awarded, when you start using your Sony Card so long as it is within 90 days of receiving it. And remember 2,000 points are enough for a Sony CD, DVD or Play Station game''.

So where are the missing 5,000 points? That is why I have written to the Sony Card office to find out. I feel cheated.

Fed up getting nothing from credit card, paid in full every month. cashback of few quid a month does not really interest me. Usaed to really like the Nectar points but Barclaycard stopped it. Rarely get to collect any Nectar points now.

Am I better off going for the Tesco card and getting mega tesco clubcard rewards, or Amex Nectar (some limited locations). Cannot find Martins calculator again
