It's best to apply 2 very thin coats, let one touch-dry before adding the second and it should be fairly set hard within 30 mins. You can buy various sprays and drops to put on the nails a few seconds after you've applied the final coat, and which will make them touch-dry more quickly. An hour should be plenty of time to avoid imprinting your nails from your sheets!

Oh, just had a thought - did you apply your cuticle oil before your polish, because that would stop it drying (sorry if this is a silly question).

    Practice makes perfect.

I put the oil on a several hours before doing the varnish, and washed my hands at least once in the interim, so I don't think it could have been that. Most likely to be the thickness of the coats, I suspect - definitely need more practice!
A fast drying top coat is a must. Sally Hansen Insta Dri Anti Chip top coat is excellent and relatively cheap. I believe the Nails Inc one is very good as well, called 45 second top coat or something. Seche Vite is supposed to be the best of all, though I've not got round to trying it yet.
Thanks, I'll have to have a look around. Saw something called "Leighton Denny Miracle Drops" in Boots if anyone knows anything about them?

Not too keen on trying Seche Vite, to be honest, as it's got a few nasty chemicals in it - I'll have to do a bit more research, methinks...

On the plus side, my French Polish is still in place, and currently has no chips and only a bit of tip wear :D

I've used some "miracle drops" in the past - I can't remember the brand name though. They'd make the nails touch dry very quickly but theystill took as long as ever to harden to the point that you were unlikely to smudge them easily.

:D My matt black whilst firmly unchipped ( nearly 10 days!) has now gone a rather strange purplish colour and looks rather dull. Time I think for a change.

I've also weakened and bought a Pro-Strong kit from QVC :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:but in defence it's the only beauty range I buy from there now.:A

I hadn't bought anything from QVC for ages (the last thing I remember buying was the Laura Geller AD TSV and I've just cancelled that) and then a week last Friday I was off work sick, sitting there feeling sorry for myself waiting to ring in and go back to bed when Dennis (Ojon man) came on and I felt compelled to buy the TSV. I had bought a supersize of the shampoo, was loving it and considering purchasing the conditioner anyway so thought I may as well get the kit as it didn't cost much more and I got two further products to try. I then went on to buy those OPI lacquers and, from elsewhere, some Elemis products for MrM. Surely they don't count if I splurge by proxy?!
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

That's Nails Inc isn't it Gilly, not OPI? (Oh dear, how sad am I? I shouldn't know that.)

Nice going! Mine is still unchipped, but the tips are starting to wear a bit. Think I'll have to change it at the weekend.

Incidentally, where are peoples favourite places to buy stuff at a good price? :) My varnish collection is rather minimal... :o

I went to the pharmacy to get a prescription and they made me wait 10 minutes. They also had 3 for 2 on Rimmel products...

I now own a lovely pink, a maroon colour, and a lip gloss sealing top coat thing.

I discovered some "Revlon No Smudge Dry Oil" in the poundshop! It was £1. It's really good and definitely worth the money.

They also had the rest of some nail care system - this is tep 4, and I can't remember what the others were but it was things like cuticle remover. Looking at the Revlon site they seem to be changing the bottle shape, so maybe that's why the poundshop had them.
