What are your favourite brands and any particular shades that work well or terribly?
What chips fasts? What lasts forever? And whats streaky as anything?

Been reading through the other post..
OPI is very hit 'n' miss, some shades go on perfectly with just one coat others take 2 or three and even then they sometimes aren't perfect. but it stays put nicely. and drys super quick, I manage to paint my 2 years olds nails with it and tell her to blow them which she does for about 5 seconds then starts playing and its already dry.
No7 is excellent value for money when bought with the £5 vouchers. It takes a while to dry and usually needs more than one coat, but its nice and even once its on.
Nails Inc I've only used when I've had my nails done by a 'professional' and it was one for weeks. But I've had no experience of applying it myself.
I would reccommend No7 with the vouchers for value for money.0 -
Oh yay, a topic I love. Within the past year I've stopped biting all of my nails (I kept biting my thumb nails for a bit) so I'm totally in love with nail polishes now.
My collection is mostly Nails Inc, with a few Models Own and OPI. I also have a few, what Americans would call "drug store brands". Overall I think OPI is my favourite, but I've only had two to be fair!
I absolutely cannot get on with Barry M. Two coats and you can still see my nail, so 3 coats and it never dries, and gets sort of "dents" in them and just look awful. Then they chip almost instantly. I don't get it because everyone I know loves Barry M.
I spent a fortune on Nails Inc and Sally Hansen quick dry stuff, then I found an aerosol in Superdrug for £2.99 that actually works. It comes in a blue can, can't think of the name right now but it's amazing!I like to make money

I love the Sinful sparkly topcoats teamed with a Jessica matching plain polish in a dark shade, then finished with a coat of clear varnish. This gives an almost 3D holographic look. The polish is touch dry quite quickly, but takes a while to properly harden.
Once dry it is quite hard wearing, and small chips can be touched up and then given another coat of clear varnish to seal. Mine usually lasts at least ten days this way - and easily two or three weeks on my toes.
It's a bu&&er to remove though!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
I've been looking for some quick drying spray and i'm off shopping tomorrow so i'll have a look in Superdrug, thanks for that.... I saw the Avon/OPI mentioned on the other thread....
I have loads of polishes that i've never worn, that come in sets you get every Christmas, must have a clear out.....Challenges - repay all credit cards by end of 2015Starting the savings for retirement :rotfl:

I don't bother with the quick dry sprays, I just use Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat. That stuff is amazing. By the time you've got round to your last finger the first one you painted is dry. It even dries if the polish underneath isn't dry yet.0

Chanel is my favourite. Easy to apply and lasts really well. BarryM copies a lot of the Chanel colours and, to be honest, for the money they are not bad at all although the finish is nowhere near as luxurious (as you'd expect for the price).
I also like MAC and Illamasqua nail polishes, especially the glittery ones from Illamasqua.0 -
I just can't get along with Nails Inc, always seems to chip within a day of applying it. Have to admit I like the cheaper brands like Barry M but my favourite is Stargazer, they do a black nail varnish that it is really shiny."It's an anywhere road for anybody, anyhow . . . . . but no matter the road is life" - Jack Kerouac0

Seems Nails Inc is the marmite of the nail varnish world. I guess everyone's nails are different though, what suits one person doesn't suit another. I love Nails Inc myself and it works great for water marbling as well.0

Having tried lots of the dearer brands I now use rimmel 60 second stuff as it dries quickly, the coverage is good and it lasts a decent amount of timeIf you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

I got some quick dry oil (on Revlon and one Sally Hansen) from Poundland...
I found OPI depending on colour too, China Glaze colours look good but chips quite quickly, nails inc I only have the free ones from the magazines, not impressed with no7 but for £1.50 with voucher is ok, the N.Y.C. from superdrug were a nice surprise...
