    Hello,
please can you give me some advice? I want to wear blue nail varnish on my toes for my wedding day as my "something blue". I do buy nail varnish, but I'm no expert and usually just buy whatever I like the colour of but thought I would treat myself and buy a really good one..any suggestions please?
    Thank you,
    Magic

    Hi, congratulations on your wedding!!!

Do you want a baby pale blue, or a gothic midnight blue, or something in between?

Hi Eric's Mum, Jermyn Street is a bit darker than Supermodel and has more of a creme finish rather than shimmery like Supermodel. I'd say Jermyn Street is very similar to OPI You Don't Know Jacques. Forgive me, I am such a nail polish anorak!

Well, I succumbed (sp?) and paid full price with free p&p for LD's Supermodel. It's my treat for the week ;)

If you would like a shimmery light blue I can recommend OPI Catch Me In My Net.

Well it helped me! I popped into my local superdrug yesterday and picked up a bottle of base coat and two of holographic all at half price! I am well pleased! Thanks!

(still haven't got over to Boots for the chrome polish... that's a job for tomorrow!)

:T I love holographic, I picked up a backup for that price!

    Hi,
    Thank you ladies!
I don't really mind what sort of blue it is, as long as it is obviously blue-if that makes sense! I think a brighter blue would suit me rather than a pale blue.

    Hey everyone :)

Interesting thread! Wonder if I could pick your collective brains?

I enjoy wearing nail varnish, but I don't do it very often. Partly this is down to the time it can take to do (and my lack of skill in doing it!), but mainly because whenever I do wear it my nails seem to be significantly weaker and more prone to breaking/splitting for quite some time afterwards. How long tends to vary, but as a general rule the longer/more times I used nail varnish, the more weeks/months they take to fully recover.

My nails are actually pretty strong (quite arched, which helps!) and durable normally - I used to be able to tighten the screws on an old pair of glasses I once had with my nails in an emergency, and I need what I term 'industrial strength' emery boards to file them with (currently using the big black ones from Boots). I don't grow them too long (they tend to be about half a cm on average) as I'm a computer geek and need to be able to type well, I always wear rubber gloves when washing up and cleaning, and I've never worn false nails. I'm also fortunate enough to have a lovely long nail bed, so even when filed right down they look good painted. So this post-nail varnish problem is annoying!

Anyway, I'm trying to make more of an effort at looking after myself and my appearance, and I've been fancying dusting off the French Polish kit - any suggestions as to how I can do this without either trashing my nails or my budget? ;)

    Thanks!

    Jes :)

I got this for xmas and it is gorgeous. Once it's on it doesn't budge either, I had it on for 8 days and there wasn't a single chip or any sign of wear. Nightmare to remove though, it stained my nails and my skin. I'll wear two coats of base coat next time and make sure I don't smear it onto my skin when I remove it. I think it has a touch of green to it though, so if it's a true blue you're after this might not be it.

Been playing - my attempt at space nails! OK I had some help with the painting.

Matt black is even harder to put on than dark red and I struggle to get a neat enough line at the cuticle.

Polishes are Zoya Dovima and OPI DS Sapphire
