Rimmel Matt topcoat was rubbish - didn't extend my nail polish wear at all, so can still only wear matte polish for a day

Waiting til Saturday to experiment myself. I have some nice new polishes including a matt black so space nails here I come. If it works I'll post a picture.

I love Jessica polish (when I can afford it).
When I haven't got the money for Jessica, I use E.L.F. I can't fault it

Just thought I'd pop in and say I am currently wearing a dark red/purple shade of No7 Stay Perfect (loads half price in Boots after Xmas) and it has lasted with no chips since Friday night!
I have used 2 coats of the nail colour and 1 coat of cheapo clear topcoat stuff, but the other nail varnishes I have like Barry M and Nails Inc have never lasted this long!

This thread is definatly NOT good for my bank account
I have just bought 2 of the MyFace metallicy nail polishes somebody kindly put a link to earlier in the thread. i've got purple haze and Black Ice (more silver than black)
They are very thick to apply but look far too good for the future health of my bank account.
will update as to their staying power in the next few days, fingers crossed they will last longer than the nails inc.

do peeps on here think a better quality top coat improves the staying power of varnishes? i am using rimmel at the mo which is ok, but was eyeing up an Opi 1 in boots, but can't justify the cost if its no better than cheaper ones
