saw two smartly dressed men - assumed it was the police so opened the door./

Blimey! You must have a guilty conscience! :D
  • Christmas Day is for most people in this country one of the most important days of the year. Any company which choses to send its staff out to peoples' homes to knock out a few tuppeny ha'penny contracts needs a good talking to.

If ever there was a reason not to give a company your business this surely has to be it.

If our day had been disturbed in this way they'd have got afew expletives stuck into them from us, so bravo father-in-law & good on him!

How dare they go uninvited on to a person's property on such a sacred day.

All this is assuming they were genuine door to doorers. My suspicions would have been alerted & the local police would have been informed of descriptions & car registrations, etc. Sorry if that offends anyone, but you can't be too careful.

Just politely say no thank you & close the door.......? They were only doing their job...? What kind of a nation are we turning into? Send em packing!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

If it's that sacred - wouldn't you have been in church anyway?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

It is such a sacred day. Hence, I will hurl expletives at anyone who comes to my door uninvited :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

We used to be renowned for civility and good manners. Sadly not any more with attitudes like this.

We were also known for our pluck & grit but sadly somewhere along the line some of us have fallen by the wayside.

Had already been & returned thanks.

And waste valuable police time? I bet you will be here ranting if police did not send a convoy out in response to your call.

Two men in suits, knocking at the front door on Christmas Day claiming to be selling phone contracts. No, you're right, that's not suspicious at all, silly me.

But you didn't actually HAVE a salesman at the door - remember....so you don't know what time they would have arrived would you? If they had at all.

Aren't you taught at church these days to be civil? Not EVERYONE in the world is religious - so why can't you be tolerant to those that don't celebrate YOUR religion?

It's the actions of a small child who can't get their own way, if you ask me. With knobs on.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Our brave men and women in Iraq and Afganisthan show true pluck and grit on a daily basis unlike some lily livered cowards who think it is the height of bravery to shout expletives at some poor salespeople.
