It was not the police - it was two door to door salesman trying to flog us Talk-Talk phones. Needless to say we did not listen to their spiel because the father in law told them where to go (I have never heard him swear before) and slammed the door - he was then seething for most of the evening. Took him most of Xmas day to calm down - he has phoned talk talk to complain about this intrusion but it appears the people who sell their tat are nothing to do with them.
Anyone else get door to door salesman on Christmas day?
Was there really any need to swear at them?how would you feel if someone swore at you for doing your job?
And if he was seething for most of the day then he needs to get a grip of himself."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
Not everyones religious, maybe it was just another day to them, no need to swear at them though, a simple no thank you is enough0

How many people would expect a door to door salesman on Christmas day and ignore the doorbell? Probably not too many.
Most people would either be expecting friends or family to be calling, or might think it would be a neighbour wishing them happy Christmas.
On a similar note, I received a Jehovah's witness Advent calendar this year.
It had 24 little doors, and behind each one was a bloke telling me to pi** off.

That really tickled me! Fab!! xx0 -
Had a window company knock on my door on Xmas Eve. Was on about the condensation he could see on my lounge window.
I just told him that I wasn't prepared to stand at the doorstep on a cold Xmas eve to talk to some numpty about windows.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090 -
Christmas Day is for most people in this country one of the most important days of the year. Any company which choses to send its staff out to peoples' homes to knock out a few tuppeny ha'penny contracts needs a good talking to.
If ever there was a reason not to give a company your business this surely has to be it.
If our day had been disturbed in this way they'd have got afew expletives stuck into them from us, so bravo father-in-law & good on him!
How dare they go uninvited on to a person's property on such a sacred day.
All this is assuming they were genuine door to doorers. My suspicions would have been alerted & the local police would have been informed of descriptions & car registrations, etc. Sorry if that offends anyone, but you can't be too careful.
Just politely say no thank you & close the door.......? They were only doing their job...? What kind of a nation are we turning into? Send em packing!0 -
We had jehovah's witness call one Christmas day. Didn't upset my day but was annoyed they chose Christmas Day to come knockingThe Cabbage

Not salesman but one year we did have Jehovah's witness arrive. Yes , to those that don't know , Christmas / birthdays don't appear on their calendars.Tried to ask them in for a sherry and a quick rendition of a Carol but they were very polite ( as normal ) and just left a leaflet.0

We used to be renowned for civility and good manners. Sadly not any more with attitudes like this.0 -

And waste valuable police time? I bet you will be here ranting if police did not send a convoy out in response to your call.0
