Losing weight - Gym V Wii

Hello again everyone!
I thought I had better check in as it has been a while! Had a few hiccups this week, had some naughty sweets and a bacon sarnie although overall, I have still eaten better
Had an awful case of trapped wind over the weekend to the point I couldn't stand up but managed to do almost 2 hours on the Wii yesterday. I was determined to get 4 stars on the juggling and perfect 10 which took over an hour :rotfl:, then I did my EA workout and an additional boxing/dancing routine I created.
Any loss this week would be good but am not too hopeful!
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

Wootball has a good point - if you don't eat enough your body starts preserve fat as an anti-starvation mechanism. I remember when one of my friends started a diet (one of the ones with weekly meetings) she was horrified by the amount of food she was supposed to eat, and had trouble finishing meals - but the started weight started to simply fall off!
Also remember that muscle is more dense that fat, so if by working out you are burning fat and building muscles you won't see as big a weight drop as maybe you hope, but you could still esily be swapping 'bad' weight (excess fat) for 'good' weight (muscle) and getting slimmer and more toned
Thanks both. This is where I get confused, myfitnesspal advises that I eat 1200 cals per day, which I am. When I exercise I add those calories on and so eat more ie 300 gained in exercise means I eat 1500 that day, is this right or wrong? I really don't feel that I'm not eating enough, I enjoy my food to much to starve myself:D0 -
Hi all,
Can I join you please?
I've dusted off my wii fit and done 30mins but mostly of that was doing step as I couldn't get it right (bad timing) it was annoying me so I had to keep having another go to see if I could get it (I couldn't, grrr).
I'm aiming to loose about 12lbs by doing more exercise and eating healthier. I know alot of people don't see wii fit as 'real' exercise but its certainly better than nothing so I'm going to give it a go.
Looking forward to reading all the posts on here.
It's good to see so many people are starting to dust off their Wiis. I've also tried the step on the most basic level and still can't keep up but at least I've not fallen over lately:rotfl:0 -

In fairness, if you're doing it that way you could just eat 1200 and not bother working out - you'd get the same results.
Weight loss is just calories in vs calories out. It doesn't really matter how they get there. Of course, working out will change body composition but if your primary goal is weight loss then it's all about what you eat not how much excercise you do.
What is your BMR? If you don't know, what is your age, height and weight?Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

Hi all, just for anyone interested, I found step to the beat on amazon.com, in america its called walk it out, costs £25 delivered which is a total bargain considering its hard to get hold of and sells for around £60 on ebay! I bought it again as it really is fab for losing weight.

I'm very interested in this. I looked at this before but didnt buy it as i was worried it wasn't compatible with my Wii console.
I think my console uses PAL. (The european version). Do you know if the Walk it Out is also PAL?0 -

Any help is appreciated.
I would go with the 1387.4 result, round it up to 1400. Eat 1400 calories per day and aim to burn off 250-300 calories if you can, preferably using some resistance rather than cardio (so lift some weights!). If you have a Body Pump class that would be ideal, and good fun, but if you're doing Body Pump aim to eat about 1600 calories that day.
If you don't want to go to the gym on any day, stick to your 1200 calories. Drink a LOT of water, and get plenty of sleep.Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.

I must be mad, I started the 30 day challenge on EA Active Sports last night - easy mode, though!
Done a few things I hadn't before, especially thanks to adding the Balance Board into the mix - kicks and knees on the boxing was fun! Did OK at the inline skating, too, much to my surprise.
Also did half an hour on the Wii, tried out the Island View cycling course for the first time. Definitely need more practice on that one!Never underestimate the power of the techno-geek...0 -
30 mins done today - had the laptop prepared for the free step this time, so I could listen to a talk whilst exercising.
Also did the free jogging. Built up a real sweat on that!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
