John Lewis 40" & 32" LCD Full HD 1080 Freeview Televisions + 5 year warranty & P&P

I have a 50hz Plasma 42" tv. I have had it for a few years and I love it, BUT if I was buying a tv today I would not buy a 50hz, I would go for 100hz minimum to prevent lag0

The comments in relation to 100hz are very much valid when it comes to watching fast action films and sports, therefore any potential purchaser needs to consider their needs when purchasing a TV.
My needs were for a reasonably priced 32" TV for the bedroom with Freevew HD that I could hook up via an ethernet cable to the internet to get BBC iPlayer, youtube etc and plug a portable drive into and run from, so with free delivery and a 5 year guarantee I purchased one.
As we all know, the problem with TV's is that technology moves so fast that what was cutting edge 6 months ago is 50% off before you know it and one can spend a lifetime finding the "right" TV.The MSE Dictionary

Thanks for all of the information! I thought you'd come back onto the thread to apologise for your accusation!0 -

Since claire21 has started posting, you will find that far more comes from HUKD over to MSE than vice versa. However, she does have a habit of neglecting to quote her source ...
Good to see you Tojo Ralph, hope all is well!Gone ... or have I?0 -

Does it really matter?
I for one, am glad that Claire21 posts her finds on MSE wherever she gets them from as she has saved me and many others a vast sum of money over the years. I don't have the time to go through all moneysaving websites only MSE & Offer of the Day - so I am grateful to whoever posts on here, wherever they get their source.
I just don't understand why genuine posters deserve negative comments. Not necessary!0 -
Try putting Offer of the day dot co.uk into your posting and see what comes up...... think you'll find it is this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - hence the reason for editing!I found it on Offer of the day, which then transferred me through to the John Lewis Website. Thanks for all of the information! bought, at £299 inc 5 year warranty too cheap to pass up..
virgin credit card is 0% till Nov 2011 aswell so i think 10 payments of £30 bargain, not even a pound a day0 -
Tojo_Ralph wrote: »Given that your original post did not include a link, I don't really understand your comment. As already noted, your original post simply stated that the find had been found on the offer of the day website, no link, no exclamation marks.
That is of course how these things work.
I have amended my initial post to reflect your comments and to read ... Another Offer Of The Day Deal ported to MSE
Thank you for amending it - it obviously is hugely important for you to do so, luckily you must have enough spare time.
My original post offered two links to both televisions via the John Lewis website.
It's a shame such pettiness clogs up these forums when folk are just trying to help each other!0 -
Seems like a great deal to me for a Sony 40" full HD with Freeview HD, DLNA & Internet widgets + delivery and a 5 year guarantee.
Wish I had waited a week to see what offers came about as paid £460 last week for a Samsung with same spec apart from Internet TV - which I want, still has a 5 year guarantee.
Oh well - this time next year a better specced 40" will probably cost £299. Just glad I waited a few years for the price of LCDs to fall and didn't rush out to go and get an HD Ready 32" no name one like loads of people I know did just to say they had one!!
Thanks for posting the deal.0 -

Shouldn't you be off somewhere on MSE or HDUK 'helping' someone with your positive comments?0
