Skylight.. You certainly do not need to explain yourself or your circumstances here.. My life is soap opera stuff.. I don't work, have 9 children.. the oldest 8 have the same father who flocked off with a woman from salsa class 2 years ago.. I had the baby 2 months before my divorce came through
.. OH was made redundant 2 years ago, works in IT so no chance in hell of finding another job in the near future.. TBH it isn't even worth him looking at the moment.. but times change as do circumstances so in a years time who knows where we will all be! I never thought I would be where I am now.. but here I am.. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff so enjoy what you have and I hope the new house is the new start you all hope it will be!
Drugged to eyeballs here.. but it is getting stuff done.. 3 binbags rubbish out
Washing all brought down
WM's both on
Bedding stripped
Fling fling flingety fling!
Oh.. and DD1 left her straighteners on last night and alnmost set her room alight!! Thankfully I sniffed the burning before we had flames but it wasn't far off.. her new rug is wrecked and some new lip glosses she got for christmas.. ggrrr.. and a skirt.. but noone was hurt thank goodness.. and my screaming abdabs got her room cleanedLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Afternoon to you all and a Happy New Year.
I have just caught up on the last couple of days, some wonderful posts so eloquently put that I can add no more other than this is a great place to be, thanks for all the support over the last 12 months and more.Penelope_Penguin wrote: »Fedup - how about a Flylady meet at the Sculpture ParkThere's a great cafe - well there was last time I went, which was about 6 years ago
This would be the one just off the M1? We have never been but have passed it on numerous occasions, so date dependent count us inkazmeister wrote: »Jeez - it has taken me from my last post until now to box up 1 tree!
How does everyone else do theirs? Mine [STRIKE]is one[/STRIKE] are ones that you have to slot all the pieces together and 'build'. So when I pack them away I keep all the coloured sections separate then individually wrap each section in a black bag secured with tape and labelled so thats its easier to rebuild next year.
I made 3 tree bags for our sectional tree. That way Miss A and I can managed to get it in and out of the loft between us, it was way to heavy otherwise. And yes our decs go in their own boxes and into a larger box. Lights are wound round a stout piece of cardboard and the transformers are kept in the decorations box. Usually the tree stays up until 12th night but being a Thursday and the first back at school we will be taking it down on Wednesday.
skylight sounds like growing pains to me as well. W has them from time to time, I told him not to wait until it hurt so much that he was in tears (he didn't want to wake me) so now he comes in and I dose him up with paracetamol.
Toots is improving slowly but is having a chill day.
Now I have caught up I should get dressed and get lunch organised!Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -

You got post today???
Yup. No guarantee it came from the postman, though.
Strangely enough, I'm next to No 35 and opposite 1a, and there are no numbers 36-48 in the road, so temporary postmen tend to get a bit confused. I expect that No 5 or No 15 get my post quite often.
Which, by the way Skylight, you may find useful, as until you have contacted the big supermarkets and informed them of the new address, and the Royal Mail (as the builders/HA may not have got round to it yet) and got used to inputting details manually/contacting places with the cheapest postcode address database and asking them to do it themselves - you could have a big job getting deliveries.
Everyone except for Mr T's was relatively easy to input my address manually - it took a formal complaint to be escalated before they found a way to do it - I don't use them for deliveries, but the principle got to me.
I'm in a HA place too, and really couldn't give two hoots what anyone else says about it. I wouldn't advertise it, as it is nobody's business whether I bought it from the housebuilder or whether I rent it, but I always found the whole 'my house is worth this/our mortgage is huge/yadda yadda yadda' the most boring conversations. If the HA allow me to in the future, I shall ask about buying it - when I can work - but they tend to encourage people to buy their flats, not their few houses.
I am capable of pronouncing all my vowels, sometimes all my consonants, but I do slip - and the look on people's faces (the Daily Venom types that you are worried about, but in person) when I yattering on about the sociopolitical influences, historical perspective or form, structure and rhyming pattern of a piece of music, including allusions to pieces varying from Delta Blues, Miles Davis, Screaming Jay Hawkins, Jimi Henrdrix and Bach - all in a raggedy London accent interspersed with bits of Yorkshire-ese, the odd blob of Edinburgh (cheers, Dad) and lots of extra bits from all over the world -
well, the looks are great!
Just waiting for the guy to come back and make sure the leak is stopped completely now. Presumably it's going to be after his Sunday Dinner. And I shall be mentioning that the oven shouldn't be tripping out the lights to him.
Never mind, we shall have weekday food today instead. (but I do miss a proper roast dinner). I would suggest we went to the pub, but they would chase The Bloke away if he tried to get as many roasties from them as he does here.
Ah well, off to unload the WM and DW.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Living room 1 is looking grand now, have hoovered (including moving out the sofas and doing), wiped all the sofas down, wiped skirting board and dusted everywhere. Just need to mop the floor but will do that in a bit when I can do that and the hallway together.
DS has taken all the boxes up to the second landing, just need DH to take them up to the attic when he wakes from his night shift (we have the attic room) as he says I sound like a herd of marauding elephants when I go into the attic space
DD has emptied the DW and has been nagged to get on with the list I gave her yesterday regarding getting stuff ready for school on Wednesday. Whats the bet she is still looking for stuff Wed morning.
Pollybear - hugs for your Dh friend

Hubby's wardrobe done. :j:j:j Loads of stuff for ebay and dump. I've hidden all his not well clothes (there all slipknot yuck), i would throw them out but he'd go completely nuts. So there now hid on top of the wardrobe and if he ask's where they are i'll say ''wardrobe'' then i'm not lieing. Then again out of sight, out of mind.
DS2's school bag has been washed so i'll stick it in front of the fire and get another load in.
I think i'll keep going in DD's room for now.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough. And things go wrong no matter what I do.Now and then it seems that life is just too much. But you've got the love I need to see me through.:j :j0 -
I got up and did some washing as there was sun earlier - tis a bit cloudy now but have risked putting it out on the line for a while. Sorting out loads of carp in boxes (mostly paperwork I have collected over years of teaching!) and then going to file what I need to keep and shred the rest for furries bedding
