The SS is a really good idea! But my girls are 8 & 6 so I can get away with cheap stuff. I tolf them they could buy for 3 pals each at a cost of £2 each - managed it at Home Bargains!

I have a floor to ceiling cupboard in the bathroom & its there I keep the presents bought, cards & wrapping paper. Easily accesible. I even sorted the presents yesterday by recycling the gift bags we got over Christmas. So I just need to change the tags. Thinking of popping to Matalan tomorrow (very early!) to see if I can get a couple of pairs of PJ's for my niece & nephew in the sales!
  • I have raided the sales and bought a few presents for next Christmas and also a couple of birthdays. Also my present cupboard will be stacked once it has all arrived.

I have put my first £20 aside for my christmas saving fund.

    Started a 20p jar

Well i've made a start. went out yesterday to get a few bits. Wasn't very impressed with boots tho, shop was a total bomb site and non of the stuff i wanted was left so only got a couple of bits (2 birthday gifts).
Ordered a few bits from the body shop too, my mum loves their stuff so decided to do her a body shop hamper for xmas and we'll be doing her a dove one for her birthday also one for my dads girlfriend too. Still got a few vouchers left from xmas so i'm hoping to get a few more bits in the sales yet.

    Hello all!!

Aiming for an organised and part homemade xmas in 2011. We buy for a lot of people so plan to make homemade gifts for as many people as possible. Been very inspired by a couple of ideas on Kirsties homemade home - my partner bought me a candle making kit for xmas and i can't wait to try it out. Been looking online at different candle making idea - great presents!

    My plan

Start making xmas cards in January
Use xmas cards from this year to make tags
Plan on what hm items i can make
Save £35 a month towards xmas - dip into this for hm item supplies
Practise cupcake, truffle, jam and biscuit making before the end of the year so i know what i am doing!

That is me! Good luck everyone

  • Just checking in - I have bought a box of Christmas cards on reduced for next year. We still have loads of paper and other cards from this year (and the year before) so that's us covered. I've also saved a few pieces of really nice wrapping paper received around gifts from other people and will stretch it out carefully ready to use ;) Also, we've received a load of festive gift bags which I'll keep for gifting throughout the year.

Waiting for Twelfth Night now to turn this year's cards into gift tags, although I have lots left from this year too. I feel all organised and prepared. :D I've created my spreadsheet for who to buy for and feel all set. :)

    Hi
    l
Love this thread! Have bought loads of Xmas cards in the sales ready for next year, didn't have to buy any wrapping paper as still have loads left from this year, but have written a reminder for myself on next year's calendar, so I don't forget wot has been bought and what hasn't.
It's a tradition in our house to cut up Xmas cards as gift tags.
Like others spent lots in the Boots sale for next year's presents. That has saved an absolute fortune.
Still have loads of Xmas crackers left over for next year.
Have bought loads of stamps, ready to send cards before the big hike in 2011. Also, not exactly Xmas saving, but have bought all Birthday cards etc for 2011, before VAT rise and will use the savings to put in Xmas pot, not much I know, but every little helps.
Also bought several 1/2 price wine and cheese hampers from Asda for £5, so got wine, 3 cheeses and a "hamper" with straw for home made gifts next year.
Anyway, I think 2011 will be much more difficult with all VAT increases which will affect presents etc.
All the very best to everyone for 2011:beer:
  • Got my wrapping paper ,cards and crackers for next Christmas delivered from M & S today, very pleased as they were bargainous. Also had to buy DS a Stig soap on a rope !!

  • Has anyone seen any plain red wrapping paper around? The only ones I can find is metallic and Its not quite what I want.

Decided I am going to start making my jewellery again. Went through a phase of not having the time but things have settled down now so going to get back into it. Was thinking of maybe selling some pieces for extra cash to be a bit more money neutral and also use some as gifts for my nieces, sister in law and aunty.

I have also started a pot for all my change so will save that too.

I havent bought anything today but am hitting the sales tomorrow so will have a look.
  • hello, i think that to keep perfume fresh it has to be kept in the fridge at home . i remember this from my retail days.it was kept away from sunshine and heat & light. google my suggestion. hopefully it is okay.x
