p.s. I could never have one of those Terramundi money pots (or any that you have to smash to get at the money) - it would kill me to break them, they are so pretty!
i made hubby break mine and get my money out out of my eyesightloves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Borrowed this book from the local library. For anyone thinking of buying it it doesn't include the instructions for the fella on the book cover. There's quite a few pages of ideas but no instructions for them. Probably good for people with a degree of competence and imagination, so no use to me!!0 -

You can drill a large hole in the bottom if you are very carfeul (use a slow drill speed tho or you'll do some damage!).... that's how I get into mine without breaking it
The other thing to do is to knock the top off it (chisel, hammer and a quick blow!) and use it afterwards as a planter

Well I've got my Christmas cards and crackers for next year in the Boots sale
I'll be saving up my Morrisons £5 vouchers again this year (from miles card at petrol station) for Christmas food and stocking fillers.
I buy all the children's gifts around July time when the sales are on which saves me a fortune (£287 saved this year!) and gifts for adults are all homemade, so I'll be pciking bits and pieces up as I find them (especially if they are on offer or reduced!).
I was all finished by November for this Christmas.... I'd like to do the same this time_____________________________________________party_ Handmade Christmas and Occassions 2011 _party_OS Moneysaving as much as I canGonna live 'The Good Life' - grow my own and 4 hens

Got 3 packs of cards all at 50% from Boots and elsewhere so that's already an improvement on 2010!
Don't know if it will help anyone thinking of doing family history-type gifts, but if you are into it seriously a lot of the software will print out booksfor you. I've just got the 2011 Family Tree Maker from OH & it certainly does it. Also there are free family charts on sites like Lost Cousins and family search. Haven't done any FH for a while but know a few links if anyone is stuck.0 -
I've done the £1 a day thing for a couple of years now - amazing how it soon adds up. Also the surveys have been an amazing help this year - present wise we haven't had to pay an awful lot at all. Also enter as many comps as you can - The comp forum on here is brilliant and there is loads on twitter and facebook.
Is this the thread we will be posting craft ideas again this year? I need to bookmark as lost track of it all last year but am determined this year to start early. OH said the Scottish tablet I made him was the best present I've ever given him:staradminHuuuuuuge thank you hugs to all posters:staradmin0 -
Sorry to butt in ladies, but I thought this was supposed to be aimed at making crafty stuff, as it was in the run up to Christmas.
There is a dedicated Thrifty Gifty Money Making/saving thread here that will help you and the Thrifty Gifty Organised one here.
It probably would be better for everyone to keep this thread for the purpose it was intended - making items and crafts for selling/giving.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

The tablet I made my OH this year was using this recipe and it did turn out looking almost exactly like that too :P
I didn't taste it as way way WAY to sweet for me but OH said it was delicious and the kids said it was out of this world. I layered it up in an air tight container with paper towel between each layer and just wrapped it up like that. It's still fresh now and I made it about 4 days before Christmas. I know what I'll be making again this year.
Just be careful if you make it when stirring - it's almost pure sugar and so like molten lava when it's bubbling away. I now have a new burn scar to add to my crafting injuries:staradminHuuuuuuge thank you hugs to all posters:staradmin0
