I'm not brilliant at following printed instructions, need to be shown.
Can't believe you made so many Rufus - and all the other fabulous things on your blog. You are one clever lady
The bags are lovely aren't they. I saw them the year before and kept thinking I would have a go but thought they would be too much hard work but then last year just before Christmas someone gave my Dad an enormous pile of magazines which he passed on to me so I thought I would have a go. I started in January as soon as the Xmas decorations were put away and finished the 6 bags in the beginning of March I think. They have all had a good response to them, and I was really pleased with how they turned out.
Thanks for the comments on my other bits, Rufus xx0 -
I have thought of making a fleece gingerbread man and filling it with wheat? to make a heat bag to warm in microwave. Can you tell I'm not sure what I am talking about LOLNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0

No probs - glad it helped.
I have bought a new notebook and organised it into sections - each crammed with homemade present ideas. Also have gone though this forum and added loads of great sites to my favourites.
It's def going to be a homemade Christmas next year!"Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
It was my first Homemade Christmas too. I did fudge for my Dad - was a bit of a nightmare, took 4 attempts to get right, and think I only managed it due to borrowing a sugar thermometer and actually cost more to make than buying a box but now I know how to do it will be doing more, I did Mini Christmas cakes for my Business Partner and Mum and both loved them and did Minty vodka for my SIL. All of my presents were very well received and have lots of ideas for 2011. Am especially keen to try the wheat hottie bottle as am planning a girls night in hamper for my SIL. I bought a fleece blanket for £2 from Primark, a Christmas DVD for £3 from Adsa, bedsocks from Matalan for £1 all in the sales and the hottie will be a great addition. I get my baskets from Wilkinson's as they do a set of 3 for £50

Everyone hated my handmade chocolate slabs. Not sure what went wrong. Maybe they went stale because i didn't wrap them airtight (just used a bit of cellophane) but they all ended up in the bin for tasting horrible.
V disappointed! It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

I made quite a lot of adult presents this year
Snowman and reindeer poop jars for the men - Loved waving the jars in front of the kids saying do you want some reindeer poo! and hear the kids squeal!
Flower brooches - free tutorial from etsy/ folsky (cant remember which) made 4 would have made more but started late! Loved by all 2 didn't realised I had made them a first!
I got £1 cotton bags from hobby craft and traced some stencils out onto laminated sheets just used a font blown up on word to 300 and found a simple butterfly motif I cut them out with a scalpel and used black fabric paint. Looked quite stylish and liked by all.
I got a £1 plain set of a teatowel and oven glove and got the kids to hand print them and sign them then added Helping Hands sign and W'ell lend you a hand - given to a aunty who was a teacher who loved them.
Laminted some bookmarks found from google and hole punched and added ribbon - quick stocking filler.
Used wordle and cut and pasted my sisters wedding song and stuck it in a frame _ she was impressed.
Also made 2 gingerbread man tree decorations using brown felt 5 buttons and some embrodiery thread to blanket stitch them - would have made more if started earlier!!
What I forgot to do was photograph them all before I wrapped them!!!!:o Melissa
