This is what I made this year -
OH - 4 shirts (he wore one as soon as he opened it and wore it again the next day lol.
Bro & SIL, daughter, son - patchwork quilts
Nieces - recycled magazine clutch bags, calico rag dolls, button necklaces, bracelets
Great nieces - teddy bears
Youngest relatives - crayon rolls
Grandchildren - football teddies
Youngest daughter - jewellery, blouse, pyjamas
Son's GF - recycled magazine clutch bag
Eldest daughter - jewellery, recycled magazine hand bag

I gave these http://s180.photobucket.com/albums/x233/cookiedough38/?action=view¤t=sharonspresent.jpg
One for my parents, one to my boyfriends parents and one to his sister and her husband.
They contained sponge cakes with red butter icing, chocolate fudge cakes with chocolate butter icing topped with marshmallows, mars bar slices and honey comb. My own version of rocky road cut into slices, a chocolate topped marshmallow stack and coconut ice.
They went down really well. I didn't expect them to with everyone but they all loved them. Second year running for my boyfriends parents, although changed slighty and I plan to do it again next year.Debt free wannabe

It was this one, OH takes an XL size shirt and I found they did it in two lots of sizes so bought the larger set. I got it off a seller on Ebay. You can make them different, I did them one with no pockets (flowery fabric), one with two pockets with flaps, other two had just the one pocket.
I like the quilt made from denim jeans, would be good to do for the nieces but would take a lot of jeans. May be I will have a look at the boot fairs in the summer and see if I can get some cheap.0 -
Turia I think I would be going to the end of sales Sale if they were my in laws. So glad your parents enjoyed your gifts. I love homemade presents. I am already planning my gift tags as my DIL gave us a lovely gift with a fabulous tag, simple buff luggage label decorated with red ribbon and bells.
Look at this lovely site for ideas.. http://deckthehalls-christmas.blogspot.com/

bottleblonde wrote: »Hi all, I've been a lurker on the Christmas boards this year and thought I'd try my hand at a few homemade gifts this year. I get invited to my ex's family dinner on Christmas Day (we're best friends & it's good for our kids). My in-laws are lovely but extremely difficult to buy for as they've got oodles of money and never 'need' anything. But they are all lovely to me throughout the year and I like to give them a token gift to say thanks.
So this year I bought little double enamel buckets and filled one half with homemade truffles and the other with Baileys fudge (recipes from the BBC website). They were put in cello bags, with a little wooden Christmas tag and a printed label to say what they were & who from. I also made a couple of batches of Nigella's Chilli Jelly so a jar each, again with a little wooden heart & a printed label. I couldn't believe the reaction! I think because they are so used to just buying gifts, the fact that I had taken the time & effort was truly appreciated. It was quite embarassing how pleased they all were. I had a fair few sweets left over so had boxed them up and taken them with me. There are always a handful of waifs & strays who are invited last minute, so they all had a little gift each as well. One old chap who was there was so grateful he was a bit overcome.
I really wish I had taken some photos now, but most of the 'accessories' I bought from eBay. The tags I modified from the ones on this site..

Thank you to everyone who inspired me to give this a try. Now I just need to come up with something to top it for next year!
