Love the sound of the enamel buckets. Can I ask where you bought them please?

They were from eBay, I'll find the seller's details and pm you (not sure if I'm 'allowed' to put a link on her). He did a great deal for 5 & posted them really quickly. I did notice after I'd ordered them that The Range had some very similar ones. They worked out around the same price but were grey whereas the ones I'd got were cream. People liked them as they could be used afterwards for all sorts of things.

We made the denim quilts with the girls from church youth club. We asked the congregation for donations of old clean jeans, we got tons. The girls had so much fun with a catwalk type evening before we even got to cutting the jeans up. If they really wanted a pair we agreed they could have them so long as they got another pair donated to replace them. We backed them with a brush cotton fabric, like flannel.

They all sound great Rufus - do you have a link or tutorial for the clutch bags - know someone who would appreciate one!

I used a tutorial like this one. They were quite easy to make the rounds, and to sew them together although very time consuming. The hardest bit was sewing up the bottom so they looked nice and also sewing in the zips at the top. I made the 5 clutch bags first then made the larger one with a handle for my daugther. She uses it every day for work. Photos of them on my homepage/blog.

Wow thats a good idea, I will ask my youngest daughter to ask all her friends if any of them chuck out their jeans can I have them. Not sure if she will ask though as she is anti parents kevin and perry mood lately lol.

I'm not brilliant at following printed instructions, need to be shown.

Can't believe you made so many Rufus - and all the other fabulous things on your blog. You are one clever lady :D

ooh i know the enamel buckets you mean bottleblonde

i made seeded paper disks, impregnated with herbs and cut to fit them
i filled a bag with compost and put it under the disks and gave them to people who cook but dont have gardens

i made labels out the seeded paper as well but used wild flower seeds on those, with a wee poem to explain what to do with it

i dont have a puic of the disks, but this is something else i made using teh same technique, i kept it big so you can see the seeds
and best of all, its free to make as i use junk mail etc to make it!
and the seeds i collected from my garden

on the wild flower cards i put something like

i send you this greeting instead of a card
being a friend of the earth, is sometimes quite hard
when frosts have gone, plant this in the ground
and when springtime comes, flowers will be found

i wondered that although people know i am very green aware & active, my lack of card would be viewed as being cheap, but everyone loved it (at least they said they did:rotfl:)

Do you have a tutorial please?

  • These are gorgeous

I was thinking of going handmade for next christmas, I wondered where you got the baskets from, I would like to try something similar and fill with foodie gifts, I'm no way near creative to make all the gorgeous things you've put in. I bet they were loved :)

    x
i made all the females the same thing
a basket of homemade soaps (lemon meringue pie, loofah soap, and jelly baby soaps, flannel cupcakes, mugs & snowman soup, and a gingerbread man kitchen sign

my mum delivers them as they are mainly for auntie i seldom see
seems everyone liked them, the only person i have spoken to so far has asked me to make 5 for her next year for her to give as presents
