Not sure I'll get much stitching done this week. Dad was taken into hospital overnight with chest pain again.
As I don't have a job at the moment I do the afternoon visiting with Mum and that's usually my stitching time. Mind you, my Dad seems fascinated with my stitching so I'm sure he won't mind if I take it with me :rotfl:
Soulie. Hope you can post some good news soon x:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Back again....I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on.
Does anyone have a small Tinkerbell design they could nudge me please? I have googled for free charts but don't like the look of the sites they come from:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

((((((Hugs)))))) to you Soulie and all your family, hope you find him soon.
I have recently bought my 1st HEAD design and would like a little advice before I get stuck in if thats ok
Firstly the instructions say to stitch on 25ct Dublin Linen - I have only ever stitched on aida before so would I be ok to transfer to aida? Also 25 count does seem rather small to what I usually stitch on so i'm a bit wary of that also.
Secondly I was wondering what Frames are most recommend and which size you all have found to be most useful, I have one but have never used it because the designs are too big.
Lastly when stitching I always start in the centre I have noticed on the HEAD instructions it says to start top left is this what you do, or do you change to find the centre?
PS where do you find the most reasonable priced place to buy your supplies from?Hi Emma welcome
For anyone's advice really:
Getting quite interested in the HAED designs for stockings.. What's it like stitching on linen? Is the design preprinted?
Nearly finished new baby card.. in 4 days (phew!) Will post pic when done :-) seems silly to show pic of progress when there's only another hours worth of work to do !
Emma and Nannon - Louise has answered Emma's queries, just wanted to say I totally agree with her completely...she is a fantastic (and very quick!) stitcher. I got the frame she suggested, and it's great!
I wish I had used 14 count Aida rather than 28 evenweave (stitching over 2 threads)...cheaper and easier to stitch, but too late to change now (not that I have done anything on The Astronomer for months now...:o)
If you want to find out how big your picture will be using a different count material, try this site...I would allow an extra 3 inches all round to allow for mounting once you're done.
I too use acrosstownstitching for threads (fantastic bulk deals). Sewandso is really quick (usually delivered next day) and well priced for everything else. Both sites are very friendly and helpful if you have any questions.
As for marking, I find the middle and mark the horizontal and vertical lines with coloured sewing thread and work out from there. I tried using a marker pen, but couldn't get on with it. May try again when I get back to it....whenever that is! :rotfl:
Nannon - the designs are not pre-printed...and I have already said I am using evenweave. Have just done a small design on linen...not too bad, but uneven. I am very thankful to Louise (and Mrs M...anyone "seen" her lately?) in suggesting 28 count over 2 threads which is equivalent ot 14 count ofcourse. I could never have stitched 25 count over 1 thread...my eyesight is bad enough already!!
Hope this helps.

Hi Girls,
Hope all are well, I am well - been busy with work but thought I still keep in touch even tho I have done no stitching - tho thinking of it.Mountain_Ash wrote: »Also a blast from the past - Mum has finally sorted out my longstanding zebra UFO that you all encouraged me to finish and this is what I brought home from my parents' yesterday - http://s618.photobucket.com/albums/tt268/rowantanner/?action=view¤t=ZebraCushion-Jan2011.jpg//
I've totally come to terms with this piece and it looks really good on my grey sand colour sofa. Yesterday was the 9th anniversary of my grandma's death, so thank you all for encouraging me to get it finished so that it would stop haunting me.
You really are :A !
I am so glad you did finish it - its nice to have something that is a memory of someone - like my Floral Alphabet in memory of my first husband.I don't wash my aida after I've stitched on it - too scared to, although I only use Anchor and DMC threads. I just try to keep my stitching as clean as possible throughout - wash my hands before any stitching, no handcream, no food or drink near it.
Am I being a wus?
I always wash - never had any colour run yet. Look at before and after (yes, its the Floral Alphabet again!)
What it looked like after 5 years in shed, untouched and unloved.
Then after I done a wash and some stitching
All done with DMC threads so it done well, just washed it with bio powder in the bath with warm water, rinsed well, rolled up in towel, and ironed pattern facedown.
[QUOTE=Keiss_21;40368292(and Mrs M...anyone "seen" her lately?) [/QUOTE]
I have been wondering that myself - feels like forever since we seen her last - her bubble, emzy, - hope they are all ok.

I need to check out and see if they have a shop near hubbys parents - they live in Georgia/Tennessee/North Carolina border.
I have a oppsie to show you - I managed to frame up my parents in law present for their 50th anniversery - I done the framing myself - managed to get "plastic" glass - so it will be protected on its journey to the States. It is a pattern I found in an American cross stitch magazine and I altered it with the lettering.
Anyone heard any news on Soulies brother - I have posted the link from the facebook page onto my facebook page to try and help from up here.
Well off to make dinner, feed kitten (she is 10 months now), daft thing - she has been climbing curtains and running along the curtain pole and getting a scare when coming back and nearly fell off a couple of times - you can see her scrambling away.
Kind wishes to all

i'm away celebrating/comisierating my 30th birthday this coming wknd... so tonight i'm putting down the lemons and finding some thing simple that i can scan, not big, with large colour blocks that i can take with me...humm... decisions decisions... i think i've some cupcakes in a mag somewhere that might fit the bill. i will need to do the first few stitches tonight as they are always so hard , if i dont i wouldnt start whilst away.
i hope everyone has a nice evening. xRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place but I have been hunting for something for a friend and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out. She was bought quite an expensive cross stitch (around £70 i think) as a gift from her husband which was Nefertiti by Lanarte which she started but has not had time to finish it and over time the pattern has started to wear and is unable to make part of the chart out =( Does anybody have this chart or know where I could get one for her without her having to buy the whole kit again? I tried emailing the compant direct to see if it could be replaced but they haven't even bothered to reply.
Any help would be very much appreciated[STRIKE]Getting married to[/STRIKE] Married my soul mate on
