Hi everyone, as a few people have been asking for updates....

    My brother is still missing.
I am hoping to get up to Leeds tomorrow or the day after, as I feel useless here, and to be with my family.

The police and a lot of volunteers today searched a LARGE area of 5 or 6 fields and found zilch.

There are a few leads, some of which I cannot obviously mention, but the newest lead available to the public is that the police want to talk to a taxi driver of a silver car caught on CCTV stopping and talking to a man believed to be my brother.

I am not sure if I can post links here or not, but maybe because this is a matter of urgency they will let me off??

Please feel free to take a look at the links, but do NOT feel obliged or pushed in to posting/tweeting or joining, I am just glad that the word is out to THOUSANDS of people already, all across the UK and beyond.

Thank you all very much, obviously my Mum is beyond worried and distressed, but she knows how much I am leading the 'Internet Campaign' side of the things, and she would like to thank EVERYONE for their messages of support and concern.

i'm away celebrating/comisierating my 30th birthday this coming wknd... so tonight i'm putting down the lemons and finding some thing simple that i can scan, not big, with large colour blocks that i can take with me...humm... decisions decisions... i think i've some cupcakes in a mag somewhere that might fit the bill. i will need to do the first few stitches tonight as they are always so hard , if i dont i wouldnt start whilst away.

i hope everyone has a nice evening. x

Hope you have a great birthday. I'm amazed you're managing to fit any sewing in on a weekend away, I know i'd never sit down and manage to get on with anything!

I don't wash my aida after I've stitched on it - too scared to, although I only use Anchor and DMC threads. I just try to keep my stitching as clean as possible throughout - wash my hands before any stitching, no handcream, no food or drink near it.

Am I being a wus?

That is almost an exact description of me. I'm so scared of washing my stitching that I never dare get it messy. I always make sure the kids mucky hands stay far away too!

shelly - hope your dad is doing ok

Maria - thanks for the Mr Men nudge :D

I've got some more of the rocket done today, and I've decided to set myself a target to finish it by the end of March. That probably seems really slow, but I know its realistic for me. After that I'll make my first attempt at HAED, so I'm taking notice of all the advice that's been given today.

thanks! we're heading off to a cottage in derbyshire for some chill time with country walks and country pubs :D we're going with another couple who are our respective best mates (dontcha love that?!)... and the boys want some guitar time... so us girlies can have some stitching time :) . my friend can Xstitch but often only finds the time if i arrange a 'stitch&bi!ch' night :)

well, that's the plan, if it doesnt happen that's fine. but if i had time and not my project, i'd feel irritated.

My OH and i have just bought a car, he is learning to drive, his instructor is really impressed with him and thinks he'll pass the practical test easily (was a biker for over 15 years). His theory test is on 2nd Feb so he's been studying on the pc for that. Can't wait to go places will be great :)

Soulie ((big big hugs)), i hope he is found safely soon.

I machine washed a baby afghan blanket - I mean, what's the use of making someone a baby blanket if you can't machine wash it? I will admit to sitting by the machine with heart in mouth 'til I knew it came out OK though :D

For marking the fabric, you could also try thin (6 - 10lb) fishing line. Because it's nylon, it slides out really easily, and you can't pierce it acidentally with a blunt tapestry needle so it doesn't get trapped.

That sounds like a great idea. I'll have to google fishing line though, as I don't think there's a fishing shop in Wetherby.

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place but I have been hunting for something for a friend and was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out. She was bought quite an expensive cross stitch (around £70 i think) as a gift from her husband which was Nefertiti by Lanarte which she started but has not had time to finish it and over time the pattern has started to wear and is unable to make part of the chart out =( Does anybody have this chart or know where I could get one for her without her having to buy the whole kit again? I tried emailing the compant direct to see if it could be replaced but they haven't even bothered to reply.
Any help would be very much appreciated :)

Hard to know which one you want us to look for...... there seem to be loads with the same name.. http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl=en&client=firefox-a&q=Nefertiti+by+Lanarte&scoring=p

Soulie, a very difficult time for you. I pray you get some good news soon.

shelly, i hope your dad is going to be alright.

finished my third mothers day card, they were only little cover kits off mags so nothing too taxing. Found a started thistle bookmark in my stash so will finish that next but have a baby jumper to finish first.
