    Hi

I am new to this thread and looking for some help, I have decided for Mothers day to cross stitch a knitting needle case, and sewing case but can I find anything on the internet which is cross stitch, does anyone know where I could find a pattern on how to make it I already have the cross stitch design in my head.

    Any help is gratefully received.

hi, sounds like a lovely present.

if you just need help with the pattern for the regular sewing bit, have you tried asking on the sewing thread here? https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2169321

Sorry can't help you out on this.

But speaking of the World of Cross Stitching, I posted a few days ago about how I subscribed because of the Free Coronation Street kit, however, when the kit came it was a winter scene.
So I popped off an e-mail to them.
I had thought they weren't going to reply as they said there should be a reply within 2 days, however, I have just checked my e-mail and there was a reply saying they had checked my subscription details, which were all correct and wasn't sure why I had got the wrong kit, so she said that a replacement kit has been allocated to me and will be with me within 28 days, so that's all good.

She didn't, however, give me an address to send back this rubbish winter scene, maybe they will included a pre-paid envelope with the Corrie kit if not, I just scored an extra kit lol

Just hope it's the RIGHT kit that comes this time lol

Plus it gives me time to get this scarf finished while I wait for Corrie to come lol

I am currently stitching a sampler, listing my children's names and dob's. The tricky bit will be the designs around the edges ~ trains, cars, dollies etc.

I also intend to take up knitting and teach the children too. A kind freegler is meeting me tomorrow to give me a bag of wool for practice, and I aim to have us all knitting our own winter scarves by next year.

DD2 has requested we make patches, with the ultimate aim of making a patchwork quilt. Maybe a little ambitious, but you never know what you're capable of till you try.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Oh forum not down yet :j up early thanks to furry alarm clock being hungry ! but no matter, chance to type a quick post and quickly catch up on here oh and my daily visit to sewandso/facebook. :j

Thank you everyone for your replies about the bookmark aida. I thought the material was strange - I'm glad its not just me!

Can anyone recommend any new baby card kits that are no more than a few pounds ? I don't know if the baby is going to be a boy or a girl ! so either a neutral design or something that is cheap and quick to stitch so that I can stitch both. I have looked on sewandso but their search facility is still odd ! I got new york for one suggestion !! Plus when I tried to search "new baby" and cross stitch kits "only" it came up with no results!

Must tidy up/housework this morning so can sit down this afternoon with my stitching and all day tomorrow. Must not put off housework till tomorrow.... as I'll get up tomorrow and not want to do it !

I was looking at the mouseloft site last night because these kits seem to be the ideal size for doing on my commute to work but I added a few! to my basket and by the time postage and tax had been added, it came to something like £40 odd  so didn't check out and closed the page muttering to myself, I really do not need any more....

in other news, the siberian tiger I really like on the sewandso site has come back into stock and is sat there tempting me to buy him. He is expensive though :( but so lovely.

off to ponder what to do and see if i close my eyes, I will open again to find all housework done and that i can sit and stitch !

happy weekend all. hugs to all who need them. :grouphug:

I remember for fathers day when i was expecting DS1 I hunted online for small handprints and footprints and made him one from baby using those.

well most of my housework is done so its a cross stitch and dvd day tomorrow :j

I caved in and ordered some of the kits I had in my basket on mouseloft, (Well what is one to do when the forum is down??!!!) most were xmas themed so I will be starting my xmas cards extremely early this year ! :xmassmile

In baby news, I went for this design in the end. Wee Baby Chart

I would still welcome any suggestions for small "new baby" designs - especially if they are designs that can be made into a nice card and are quick / easy / cheap to stitch.

The chart was good value but the materials not so ! (with the linen, threads, button and ribbon costing the small matter of £25!!) so they remained unpurchased and I shall stitch on aida instead! The only extra I ordered was the rattle button :j here is a better picture of the finished design Wee Baby - Example - Finished design - this person hasn't used the ribbon and I think it looks fine. I'm not sure what the thread list will be like and whether I will be able to work out what the anchor or dmc equivalent will be but no matter, I shall just pick threads from my stash if I can't work out what i am meant to use! I'm not paying for threads that I will only use once. I don't know why they are so expensive. :(

Hope everyone has a lovely evening

ps there has been some talk of what you prefer to stitch with - anchor or dmc - I like both and buy both ! I find anchor softer but also like dmc.
