As a relative newbie to crafting, could anyone give me alist of basic must have's, so I don't waste cash on things we don't need.
Thanks guys.
xI ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

I only cross stitch so can't advise on any other crafts. If you haven't done any stitching before I would recommend buying a small kit, or a magazine with a free kit on the cover to start with. That will give you everything you need apart from scissors and a wooden hoop to hold the material.
You don't need expensive scissors either, just make sure they only get used for cutting threads or they will go blunt very quickly.;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -

Everyone's going to probably think me really odd here, but after my scissors constantly getting nabbed and used for other things I now use a pair of nail clippers.
I got 2 pairs in the set, a large pair and a small pair, the small are for threads and the larger ones for yarn. The snip lovely and cleanly.
I'll back away from you all now :rotfl:Toodles-SAHM to a beautiful 3 year old DD, Baby #2 on the way!Just started comping 02/11/11 Everything crossed!0 -
Please someone tell me where to get the best (and easiest to wash out) pen, am definitely in need of one to help me out with my old eyes these days!
They are all pretty easy to wash out, I usually buy this one:
http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Fabric-Marker---Wipe-Off__HAN-H295.aspx
or there are ones on ebay which are just as good. I tend to avoid the vanishing marker pens as I can't be bothered recounting and remarking the squares every day :eek:Everyone's going to probably think me really odd here, but after my scissors constantly getting nabbed and used for other things I now use a pair of nail clippers.

Ummm...that's what I use as well
My youngest kids are 3 and 5 so for me it's much safer to have clippers lying out rather than scissors. I have one of those cutter wheel thingies as well but I keep flipping losing it:o

Louise - would it be possible for a
;) of the RM Wedding sampler as my stitchy friend is getting married this year (I'm very choosy about who I stitch for as I couldn't bear spending all that time stitching and then the recipient being ungrateful!!) :rotfl:
Still beavering away on the BNSLP design - managed the face and made a start on the blanket but decided to do some of the metallic thread part (my first time) and that pretty much put me off last night so back to the grindstone tonight, thinking about taking my think green stitch to work tho to get done in my lunch break as long as I don't have to take the cheques into town
Will try to post a pic tonight if I remember

I was just wondering would it be worth while gathering the sites mentioned and adding them to the front of the thread? I think my post falls quite a bit down, but I'd be happy to amend my post if you wanted.0

There are 2 other designs to match this one
But if they are different I would be glad of a:T
