    ARGGGG GIRLIESSSSSS GIRLIESSS GIRLIESSS..........................
............. look what was waiting in my inbox!!!!!!

    any help would be great!!!!!

any perticular pics you are REALLLYYY proud of that you woud like me to send??

any stories you think we can send - i don't want to offend anyone.....or bring back emotions people would rather forget.

(will catch up on this thread and the going ons when i have come down from cloud 9!)

I don't think I can add much as I think what has already been posted sums us up to a T. For my own part, I would like to say that I hadn't realised I joined the cafe over 2 years ago and I also wanted to say how much the cafe means to me. Its great being able to post a stitching query and get half a dozen replies/tips/advice. I love seeing other members work and watching the designs progress. I would like to think that I could share anything with you all and sometimes I almost want to hug my laptop when reading other members posts to send my virtual hug on its way.(and bikerchick huge one coming your way right now :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:)

I don't think I realised just how much the cafe meant to me until I read chickywiggle's e-mail to Cross Stitch Crazy and their reply and reading the subsequent posts has only heightened my belief that we have something really special here.

I think that even when we don't get time to do our own stitching, visiting the cafe and seeing pics of other members work and all the talk of cross stitch soon gives us a much needed "cross stitch fix" and has us rushing for our needles at the earliest opportunity....

I would also like to finally say that cross stitching for me helps keep the depression demons at bay and the cafe helps enormously with this so thank you one and all
    :smileyhea
bout your club, Cross Stitch Cafe! I'm very happy to report that you have been chosen as our Club of the Month in the September edition of Cross Stitch Crazy!

I was wondering whether I could ask you a few more questions so that we can run a little story about you? Is that OK?

    1) When did you set up the group and why did you decide on a virtual club rather than a real-life club?
This is my first post in the Cross Stitch Cafe!!! :j
    Hello

I have just found this thread and had to join in
    :j

I have been cross stitching since 1998 but over the last few years I have not done any! I tried other crafts, glass painting, card making, quilling, knitting and bought lots of materials (particularly for my card making) so I now have more than enough craft materials to sink a battle ship! Cross Stitch remains my true passion though.

I subscribe to Cross Stitcher Magazine and I am considering taking out a subscription to Cross Stitch Card Shop when the free gift is something I want.

When I first started Cross Stitching, I subscribed to all of the mags but let them lapse. Now when I buy them in the shops, I am shocked at how much they cost !

I was very lucky recently to pick up a huge collection of mags in my local charity shop ! Although available on ebay, they are still pricey

Cross Stitcher remains my favourite cross stitcher magazine, always lovely designs and the free gifts are lovely too - much better now than when I first started buying.

Im working on a tigger bookmark at the moment. Im just working on small designs at the minute as I want to perfect my cross stitch - getting the back as neat as possible.

After I have finished this design, Im not sure what I will do next as I have so much to choose from. I do have some big kits to do/finish including a wedding sampler for a friend (married Oct 07!) a birth sampler for a relative (baby december 08!), a kit my friend bought me xmas 08 which I love and a country companions design for my OH which I started in 98 !!! Im going to start the country companions kit again though because my stitching is very untidy (the back) and I know I will encounter problems when I add the back stitch etc so I am going to start afresh.

My favourite cross stitch is Winnie the Pooh, Country Companions and Margaret Sherry
:D Also newton's law, tatty ted and cats :D

    2) How did you begin recruiting members?
    3) What's the age range of your members and are you all UK based?
I shall be 33 next month. I live in Cornwall with my fiance and my 7 year old cat
    4) Any funny/uplifting stories you can share with us?
    5) You mentioned the quilt joint stitch project which sadly went missing... Will you do any more joint projects do you think? And what would you do with the finished article?
I was sad to see this got lost. :( I would be happy to partake in any future project.:j
    6) Are there any plans to ever meet up in real life?

    7) What are the benefits of being part of an online club over a real-life club?
Its free, open 24/7 and we can visit as often or as infrequent as our other commitments allow. We share tips, laughs, the lows and are always there for each other.

    8) Can you sum up the ethos of the club for me in 3 words?
    special stitching friends

Thanks very much. If you could send me some pics of some of the things you / the club have stitched that would be great! Warm regards Cross Stitch Crazy

Bikerchick you might be able to get a cheap (as in price, not standard) wig from http://www.wigbank.com/

I have alopecia and when I was first diagnosed and was losing lots of hair I got a wig from this charity. Then I decided 's*d it' as I couldn't be bothered wearing a wig or head scarf or trying to make my remaining hair cover the bald bits, so I shaved the whole lot off for charity (wigbank and a local hospice). It has actually been very liberating and I still wear my hair shaved - well, I have to as it won't grow back properly. I'm 41 and heaven knows what I'll look like when I'm 71 with a shaved head - like a wrinkled peanut, probably :rotfl:

I shave my own head and it has saved me a fortune in hairdressing costs - I'm still using a shaver I bought for £17.99 five years ago - now that's moneysaving :rotfl:

I haven't read past your post yet so apologies if anyone has already pointed you in wigbank's direction. I hope you are feeling ok, as ok as you can be.

Blimey I stay away for a wee while and you lot get invited into a magazine and then never stop chatting - has taken me ages to skim through all the posts!

Bikerchick - sorry you've had a difficult week - you are in our thoughts and prayers xx

I'm a fairly oldie judging by the replies at 41 in the Northwest. I just love the fact I can pop in whenever and there will always be something pretty to look at even if my stitching has taken a bit of a back seat to work atm. Everyone is very friendly and we can ask any stitchy questions we like and no-one will laugh at us. I love seeing other people's work and designs they love and I like the fact that we all have very different tastes but no-one goes yuck when they see something they don't like!

Am sad the quilty thing never got itself together as my square is still sat here lonely too. I do stitch for lovequilts so at least someone benefits from my spare time and stitching.

Rugby is on and I am totalled from writing reports all week so am struggling to stay awake to stitch. M-I-L is 70 tomorrow so plan to settle down to stitch after that tomorrow - still on Michael Powell chapel and camera lead still awol

I have issue 175 in my stash if you need that flower.

Nykeid, ohhh if you could check which flower it is I would be grateful. I need a Bluebell and Forget-me-not, thanks :D

    :j Chicky, so exciting...

Here is some of my answers... I was part of the UFO group but didn't feel at home until this new group. I must say you are all welcoming and helpful. Age wise I am 25 now but was 23 when I joined you in the UFO. If you plan a new joint charity thing I would love to get involved, as with meeting up in real life, imagine if we could organise a stitching retreat one weekend, it would be fab!

I prefer online as its cheaper, easier and open 24/7. Also as been mentioned there are so many personalitys/opinions/knowledge both to do with stitching and real life, the cafe has it all. My three words would be friendly, enjoyable and interesting.

    Hope that helps :D

I have stitched only a little while I have been away but I will update here over the weekend :j

I've just looked and 175 is the last in the Patriot Bears series. You have 176 onwards, so maybe they're yet to be published?

I have had a nose on ebay this morning and the Margaret Sherry mag is already for sale. One seller has listed it at £29.99 (buy it now price) plus £3.50 postage :eek::eek: :eek: I'm all for people making money on ebay but....

I am planning on not doing very much today although I am taking part in a race for life event in about six weeks time so my training plan dictates that I have to walk for 3 mins then power walk for 3 mins - repeat 5 times....

Im pondering whether to go into town as there are odd bits that I need but town means spending money and crowds. Hmmm time to browse my Margaret Sherry book I think and see what I want to stitch first ! Wouldn't it be nice if they did a competition to win all the threads and materials needed to complete all the designs?!
