thanks Ruth and ejs. it's not sticking the wadding down first that's worrying me most. that and finding time to do my nails if i have to lace it in!
Thanks Ruth - saw your messge before logging off - SUPER QUICK REPLY AWESOMENESS!!!:T i had to go get petrol, but they didnt have any, and nor did Asda, which surprised me (though i did get some ok woopsies there and much needed clothes washing liquid) but then I thought of B&Q... they had normal or carpet strength! so i bought normal but at 3.70ish and an hours round trip i'm still not too happy with my OH for taking the only shed key:mad:.
but at least i will be able to finish it. talk about projects taking the time you give them... i started it back in feb i think! i'll show you piccies when i can.
THANK YOU!! this cafe is indeed a place of awesome people and kindness xxxRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
oops! so sorry i missed your birthday Louise. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I'm glad to hear you recieved love and nice things x
welcome Observer, love the giraffe and how the sheep looks like Shaun The Sheep. ooh, has anyone noticed Shaun's little brother sheep (plastacine kids show) as cross stitch? he's so cute it'd really work for nursary things. i cant recall his name.
well done on moving Marru. i do not know where i put the battery charger.
- i looked in Hcraft for keyrings but they only had Giant ones or small ones in packs of 3 and cost 6.00ish which i thought was a lot considereing the one i have was 50p from an independent shop. ho hum. i'll keep an eye out.
take care everyone. i'm not sure when i'll be back as we're still moving and now have tennants with a due date so i HAVE to remove the computer from the old house = silly situation i know but oh well. life was all too stressful to do it all in one go and we didnt have to so i didnt pannic but i cant put it off any longer. we've been there 2 weeks today and my computer and the working shower are still 2 miles down the road!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frankie and Molly are ready. Next Ollie. I have contacted DMC asking if they are going to make Boris Hare into this size but haven't got a reply as yet. If I can't get Boris I might do one of the "group pictures" as the centre piece for the wall hanging."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

Hi
I am trying to find either (1) a cross stitch with a poem on, or (2) somewhere that does good alphabets. The ones I found on google were a bit simple! Does anyone have any good ideas?
The poem is:
Be nice
Think happy thoughts
Champion Silver linings
Love all things (Not just cute things like babies and kittens)
& when you do love – love like they do in power ballads
(You know like on a cliff with the wind in your hair and your eyes shut, knowing you’ll never know another love like this)
Watch out for dog poo
Smile at people – even grumpy ones
Be nice (Oh I already said that)
Remember that any thing is possible
& whatever you do
Always try to
Look on

Marru, those are just adorable :happyhear
Not feeling too great today - inlaws visited yesterday and I started sneezing after half an hour. Then comprehension dawned and OH's mum said 'oh...I never thought - we're looking after my sisters cat!' Just the lingering cat hairs had set off my allergy; if I'd known I woudl have taken antihistamines before they came round, as it is I woke up this morning with a head full of cotton wool and an aching throat
Going to cuddle up on the sofa and let the kids fend for themselves. I am trying to recruit one of my colleagues to the cafe. She has done beautiful work.
Question about fridge magnets and coasters. Where do you source the "cases" for your cross stitch fridge magnets and coasters? Thank you soooo much!!!
(I want to do frog fridge magnet and some doggie costersso might need to ask next which programme to use for converting pictures to cross stitch charts...)
Framecraft sell magnets but they are expensive - the size i needed was £1.80 per magnet  Sewandso also sell the (Framecraft) magnets and I think have shaved 10% off the price. Someone on here recommended a company called www.blankplastic.co.uk and I did place an order with this company but the postage was expensive (£7.95 ) and also note that depending on how much you order, the parcel might come by courier and be warned it comes next day so don't order if you are planning on going out like I was !!) I think with the postage charges included, the magnets worked out at about 60 pence each. They sell a variety of items and some specifically for cross stitch although I did take a chance and order some other bits that didn't mention whether they would be suitable for me to put my cross stitch in - I haven't tried all the bits and pieces i bought so can't say whether your cross stitch will fit and if i remember correctly, some of the items, the cross stitch fitted the wrong way - so you put the cross stitch in and then snapped the lid on top (if that makes sense).
You don't get the backing paper like you do with framecraft and for some of the items, the magnets are supplied for you to affix yourself but I was quite happy particularly as I wanted to be able to stitch in bulk and simply could not justify spending £1.80 per magnet ! 60p per magnet was much more my price range.
You order in batches of 10 and typically if you order more than 10, you receive a discount.

Finally got a reply this morning telling me that because I bought the subscription using Tesco vouchers, I couldn't change it-dispite getting confirmation from Cross Stitch Collection that it had been transferred! Oh well...I'll just have to finish off this year, but I won't bother using the Tesco vouchers for it again. I am so disappointed with the new look. Saying that, I did like one design in it this issue, but I can't see myself ever having time to stitch it. It's a pillow with a heart of flowers on it. Haven't got the issue to hand to find what page it's on, but it was nice.
I've finally sent off the pic of my brother with the Banksy design kit I stitched for him to World Of Cross Stitching. Does anyone here subscribe to that mag? I don't, but obviously would buy it if they publish my letter. If anyone spots it, could you please post on here? Thanks! Urban Cross Stitch has a sale on at the moment if anyone is interested. They have money off all their kits & there's several Banksy style designs. http://www.urban-cross-stitch.com/abouturbancrossstitch.htm
I've done a bit of stitching this week. Not a huge amount, but more than I've managed in months. It's on a Raise The Roof design called 'What Side?' and I've started stitching a bit of the pink bedding. Not worth posting a pic just yet, but hoping my stitching bug is returning. :T
I tried to do this also - change from a knitting mag to Cross Stitch Collection and whilst it let me change it in my account, I got an e-mail this week telling me I couldn't because I had paid with Tesco vouchers.
I didn't think much of this month's issue of cross stitcher - probably the only thing of interest was the emily peacock letter !

That is a lovely poem :j where is it from ?
ps belated birthday wishes to Louise and hugs to vickietm (ouch)
not managed much stitching this week. I bought the alan sugar book which I am really enjoying so have been reading that on my commute to work instead of my usual stitching session. I have also been lent an e-reader so have been trying that - are fellow cross stitch peeps for or against e-readers ? I still can't make up my mind.
not sure what cross stitch plans I have for today/tomorrow - but since my stitching efforts this week have been somewhat lacking, I will try to make up for it over the weekend :j
