Oh, that's a great idea, Keiss. I should *use* my stash instead of just hoarding it like there's some kind of prize for the biggest(is there??? I have a good chance...:) ) If I got on with some stitching, I'd have less fabric, etc to keep in the boxes. Now I know where I'm going wrong...lol! But I do love looking through my stash of kits and stuff. Is that weird???

:rotfl:Nope it's not weird...you just appreciate great texture and colour. One day you will have just the right materials for the perfect project...and that could be any day now! :rotfl:

I was at a quilting group last night where a lady was giving a talk on rugs (wool and silk woven ones from Iran, Pakistan etc). When she finished, we all had to go up and stroke, well, caress the rugs...especially the very fine silk ones! (over £1600 for one!:eek:).

There's something about looking at different colour, texture and pattern combinations that really excites me..and I suspect lots of other crafty people too (welll I hope so! ;))
    .

    Off to bed now...night, night.

How did I do that ^^^?!

I decided on my holiday project.... (I might start the xmas project before I go back to work next week) but in the meantime, I am stitching a free winnie the pooh kit that I got from a cross stitch mag. I have also picked a tigger and eeyore kit to do and the idea is that I am going to put the finished designs into one of those framecraft pen pots. and either use on my desk at work or give as an xmas gift to a friend :j

I don't know what it is about winnie the pooh but he doesn't have make me smile when I am stitching him? I don't know if it is because the colours are so bright or because of his cheeky grin - but there is just something about him and his friends!

Talking of pooh - I found this whilst browsing eb$y this morning...

What an interesting few pages! Just wanted to thank all you ladies for diverting a bit and sharing your 'gynae stories' - makes me realise that I am not alone! Why is it that we get treated as freaks sometimes by Drs!!!!

Just for the record - I'm 30 with PCOS, TTC for quite a few years, had all the drugs which didn't work and due to complications with OH's swimmers (don't tell him I told you ;)!) were told our only chance of a child was with IVF/ICSI - and a very slim chance at that! At that point I thought there must be more to life than Drs, hospitals, drugs, thermometers and charts and we called time on the whole TTC. I found the whole thing difficult as I am a complete control freak (think Monica Geller :D) and it was the one thing in my life I had no contol over. So I empathise with all you guys out there in a similar situation. Its taken quite a long time but I think I am as Ok now as I am ever going to be about not having kids. I still have the odd wibble and cry every now and then but have learned that just because I can't have children does not make me a failure.

    Back on topic.....

OH says I have 'fabric aquisition disorder' - I have loads of different fabric that I just love looking at and admiring but don't want to cut up in case I ruin it:rotfl:! I can spend hours in fabric shops just looking at all the pretty colours and textures. I am hoping today to bite the bullet and get the sewing machine out and actually sew up the cushions I've cross stitched. I keep putting it off as I'm scared I'll muck it up and ruin the stitching I've done (there's the Monica Geller perfectionist in me rearing her ugly head!).

havent done any stitching for a couple of days but hoping if its nice ill do some over the weekend (i find its easier outside in the sun on the navy adia) hoping to get the sewing machine out at some point and make the butterfly i stitched into a needlebook. im trying to clear a few things out that an be posted off ive been knitting bunting for a charity appeal and only need to do two more flags then i can pos it off as ive done what i promised myself i would. the lady at work had her baby yesterday so i can take her cardi round that i did for the baby. it wont really scratch the surface of my hoards of stuff but at least it feels like somethings are going out instead of cluttering up here.

'fabric aquisition disorder' - I think I have a different strain of that illness. Mine problem is threads. I love new skeins. I will buy a new one even if I have 10 half used ones in my box. How very non-MSE.

I also really like the dyed threads (they sell them on Sew and So and other places, i.e. Polstitches)

My name is TMIF, and I am a Thread-a-holic!

(Where in Cornwall are you MMK, I am in Plymouth, and there isn't much sun here today!)

I have the thread strain too!!! I have the complete set of Anchor threads but having bought a few HAED charts I'm stocking up on DMC - I know I only *need* to buy the ones for the charts but the OCD part of me wants complete sets...... I've also started collecting Gentle Arts Sampler threads and love other hand dyed threads.......... I fear there is no cure:rotfl:! My cross stitch fabric obsession was also not helped when I recently bought a grab bag of fabric from Polstitches - how awesome are their fabrics! I really want to find a project where I can utilise a gorgeous big piece of it!

Out of shame I do not wish to identify what town in Cornwall I live in (no its not Newquay!!), I'm in West Cornwall, and if you know Cornwall you can probably guess which town...... tis gloomy here with no sun today.

If its the town I think it is, I did my first bit of teacher training there... Not sure it's shameful. It's meant to be up and coming. Haha!

All of my mum's family are Cornish -she came from the Lizard (which is a lovely place) and her sister lives near Hayle.

I lived near Launceston for a while when I worked in Bodmin.... I really loved it, and part of me wants to go back, however, my dream is a little cottage on Dartmoor, one with a stream at the bottom of the garden.

Until then, it's an over-priced, under-valued hovel in a not so nice part of Plimuff :(

Oh, I must do some work. Concentrate woman!

I think I am suffering from fabric/thread/wool/yarn/paper aquisition disorder...otherwise known as Complete Crafting Madness.

It's going to get worse too as I am going to go to a beginners quilting group soon, and there is the possibilty of me teaching a knitting class come September

Have a great day everyone...off to the Malvern Show today, so gardening hat on today!

I LOVE the Polstitches hand dyed fabrics. They are sooo gorgeous! My mum has been to the shop & one of these days, I'll talk her into driving me there for a visit too. I used to belong to a hand dyed fabric club when Jaynes Attic was still running. You got 2 pieces of evenweave (or aida) every month. I had to cancel after a while as I had a massive stash of them and just wasn't using them up quickly enough. I still have loads left. It was nice yesterday looking through the colours...the purples, blues, greens, pinks...sorry, got distracted there! I used some of them for the Lizzie Kate seasons set that I stitched for my Grandma. They work very well on LK style designs as there's still a lot of the background showing to admire. Also did a few wedding designs on some-I think one fabric was called 'Cuddles' which was very apt for a wedding design. Ooooh, I'm feeling a stirring inside-could it be my stitching bug coming back??? Should I get out my hand dyed fabric box and do a little LK chart??? Better do my gym session first, though. Went on wii fit yesterday (only the body test bit, though) and I've only lost 2lb, which I'm not happy about at all. This is my 5th gym session (Drs referral thing, so heavily subsidised at the moment) and although I'm upping my times & levels, I'm not dropping the weight quickly enough. So I *will* go to the gym & reward myself with some stitching when I get back later. Wish me luck!
