nooo don't say that!!! I was debating getting it.

I look at it as a couple of days discomfort beats 9 months of the same then labour at the end! :rotfl:

My sister had the implant - she had a hard time with it to start with (moody, spotty, PMT pain, constant bleeding etc (just like me on the Pill(s))) - now 6 months down the road she's fine.

Every time I go to the Drs i ask if I can just have the old baby making tubes tied, and each time he says I am too young (33), I will change my mind, etc... Surely that's my risk to take?

I wonder if I can persuade !!!!!! to have to snip - or will they say he's too young too (36, no kids)

I have heard of some women having those symptoms, there is a thread in the families section discussing it.

I would have thought he would be okay at 36 - round here it's under 30 they say no to, because the likliehood of wanting a reversal is higher under 30.

After the implants 3 years is up, my hubby is getting a vasectomy (voluntarily LOL) - he will be 38 by then, so deffo no more babies. :)

My oh is terrified of needles and hospitals so no way would he have had the snip. I was steralised at 33 although i did have 5 children having just given birth to twins when they did the op. My gp said no op but when my surgeon said they needed to do a section i asked if he could do it at the same time and he agreed . No way was i going to be pregnant again 5 years earlier i'd been told i would never carry another baby so i carried twins lol. fingers crossed no periods hot flushes or anything since my op.

my daughter has injections every 3 months she said they are ok but made her puts lots of weight on.

some interesting posts above. To add my tuppence worth!!, I have been on Microgynon since 2002? I get on fine with it - on a recent visit to the docs, I was asked if I wanted to consider an alternative and I was like no thanks!! The coil doesn't appeal and I know a couple of people who have had the implant but I'm not sure I fancy that. I'm naughty with my pill though, I tend not to take the seven day break and just continue with the next pack. I'm not sure if I should do this? but hey ho...

Edited to add: I have mixed feelings about whether I want children and to be honest, probably don't - but I think its wrong that if you are adamant you don't, the docs won't abide by your wishes and offer you permanent contraception!

In cross stitch news, pondering what I want to stitch today. More than likely going to start xmas project but still undecided...

Apparently, my quick Google search suggest that the 7 day break was invented by Drs in the 60's to make women more feminine. Madness, surely, Google must be wrong!

    I also found this!

I agree with your point about being allowed to choose - however, they say that those who have the op under 30 are most likely to change their mind.

I did a bit of research last night though, and it's really hard to get it on the NHS at all - unless they are doing something else at the same time - appendicitus op, caesarian etc.

Marie Stopes do it for £1400 or so, and you don't even have to have a letter from your Dr, although they recommend you speak to your GP first.

it's definatly ok to do that flat eric but not sure you should do it continually. plus i found when i didn't take the break the next time i did i got double the pain. :(

oh the same sorta note (sorry still not cross stitch related) did anyone see Holby City this week?? I was catching up with it last night. do you think Malik did the right thing with that 'mummy'. FYI those who didn't see it she was a drug addict who had given birth to a child who suffered withdrawel. she had already had 4 (?) children taken into care. while the dr was operating on her he gave her an unnecessary (medically) histerectomy.

personally (IMO) I think he was right to do it. am trying to find the polite way of tactfully putting why and will do so later when brain and fingers are functioning togther.

I know others will agree he wasn't for all our own reasons please can we respect opinions and not flame others for them (i know we wouldn't but i thought a nice reminder won't harm :D)

ok ok on a stitching note..... lets all remember this little gem in our discussion.....reprosystemxstitch.jpg

Have seen the first one before not followed the link to the others - amazing. Agree with mrs-moneypenny don't know where you'd hang them unless you happened to work in family planning.

Having to stay in today as waiting for an order to arrive from B&Q. Unfortunately I have a list of chores as long as my arm so unlikely to get much stitching or sewing done. Might try to sneak some in later.

Just caught up on the thread and was quite intreagued by the diversion!!! I've been on the pill for years but due to something random in my legs - levido reticularis - they want me to come off it and I realy don't trust anything else. Plus even at 32 I end up with loads of acne if I stop taking it. Might go to see the FPC like someone suggested. Was unsure about the injection and the implant as the very few people I know who have had it all accidentally get pregnant within the first 6-12 months on it! ARGH - no thanks!

Anyway, stitchy news. I'm still finishing Titanic but now have 4 others on the go! 3 smallies (2 fathers day cards from this months Cross Stitch Collection), the pregnancy scan frame for my mate from same magazine and the Rene Mac tile. Have promised myself (and DH) that I will finish all of the above before I start anything else new! Oh, did get the John Clayton Sydney scene pattern off ebay for a bargain of 99p at the weekend - was in pristine condition, still in the packet and everything. That's quite a way down my list though.

As I'm typing I keep remembering more news. Health has gone downhill so I've had to give up that little job I managed to get in April. Am so unhappy about it but the ladies were lovely and have told me to come back in the New Year after lots of resting up and there will be a job waiting for me if I'm a lot better. I thought that was lovely of them.

Very cheery news - DH has booked us a holiday! 8 nights in Budapest at the end of June/early July. Am really, really looking forwards to it as we went there last year for a 'minimoon' (aka excuse for an extra holiday!) and it will be our 1st wedding anniversary while we're over there. Just thought, we have a new lady on here from hungary don't we? i'm so sorry, I can't remember your name. If you know of any good craft/stitching shops in Budapest please can you PM me!?!? Thank you!!!

I promise I will try and get some update photos sorted for next time. Take care everyone xx

  • I was sterilised at 26. GP asked me if I wanted any more children, I said no, he referred me to hospital. All done and dusted in about 4 months! Best thing I ever did!

Spent most of yesterday at the hospital, but no more news really. Should be starting chemo the week after next.

Oh! And this time next week I'll be married :happylove
