As it happens I haven't been able to do any - I got one of those implant thingies in my arm yesterday and it has been too sore to stitch so need to wait until it eases off
nooo don't say that!!! I was debating getting it.tellmeitsfriday wrote: »Out of interest, why did you pick that? I am not getting on with any of the Pills at the moment, and am just wondering... (I can't bear the idea of the coil - far too shy for that)
Sorry if this is inappropriate - if you want me to delete I will x
tho am please someone else did ask- I can't take mine again cause there is a risk of the OC returning in force once a month
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
My sister had the implant - she had a hard time with it to start with (moody, spotty, PMT pain, constant bleeding etc (just like me on the Pill(s))) - now 6 months down the road she's fine.
Every time I go to the Drs i ask if I can just have the old baby making tubes tied, and each time he says I am too young (33), I will change my mind, etc... Surely that's my risk to take?
I wonder if I can persuade !!!!!! to have to snip - or will they say he's too young too (36, no kids)0 -
ohh noooo - I couldn't cope (or afford *bleeding*) with those symptoms TMIF. i believe someone on the preggers thread say men could have it done if they were over 30 as there is always reversal - not an option in our book....... not that i want or could house, feed or cope with a 3rd.....no matter how much I look at DS2 and think "awww I'm never gonna hold another of my own squidgies once you've grown up".loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0

I believe about 75% of people get on fine with the implant. 3 out of 4 is pretty good. I think it'd be worth a go. Have you ever taken the mini-pill or had the 12 week injection or the mirena coil - it's the same hormone in each one (basically).
(I've had "those symptoms" (yes, all of them) since February 10th!)
I think I will ask doc about it again when i go on Monday - again. GRRR! I practically live there at the moment.
I've been checking up on the lady op - take 15 minutes and costs £1000 (Marie Stopes will do it if you're over 30).
The snip is £400 from the same charity - and takes 10 minutes including the painkillers.0 -
Since my breast cancer, I've had to take the low hormone pill and it's great! It's called Cerazette and you take the pill every day (rather than having a break of a week) and take the packets back to back. They say you can experience some or no bleeding and I never have any.
Although, every since I go back for a check up with my oncologist, he asks me if I'm ready for a hysterectomy, due to the risks. I'm only 36, man!0 -
Ick Cerazette (and mini-pills in general really) - that's where all my problems started!
I took the normal one (Loestrin) for years. Fine. Mum had a stroke last yr, so Doc suggested I try the mini pill. If it worked, there was a slightly lower stroke/blood pressure risk than normal pill - but if it was no good, to go back to the other because the risk wasn't that much more. I agreed. As you do.
Grrrrr is all I can say to that.
He reckons most people get no bleeding, but not me. Oh no!
36 is very young for a hysterectomy! Even if you don't want babies, there're all the menopause type things to deal with. Saying that, it's a horrid op, and the younger you have it, the more easily you'll get over it. Do you want sprogs?0 -
think i'll be ok on mini pill - was on microgynon for 3y before ds1 then another 2 before ds2 with no problems at all suited me down to the ground.
I think I'd be scared with no bleeding at all i'd be forever convinced i was pregnant!! give the men the drugs i say!!loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Sorry to anyone who is getting bored with the OT chat, but wanted to add my experience to the discussion.
I've been having the Depro Provera injection for over 10 years now. I have come off it a couple of times to see if something else would work better for me, but I keep going back to the jab. I think what works wonders for one person might not be suitable for another & different methods affect people in different ways. I always go to the family planning clinic for my contraception, as I find them much more knowledgable than a GP. They are happy to try different things with me there & I have done trial & error on several things. When I was 17, I went on the pill, but after my accident I developed a blood clot and was told to come off it. I have also tried Cerazette and didn't on with that. When I had a smear done about 2 years ago, they tried fitting a coil, but I was crying with pain and they decided not to carry on. I am 30 and my husband is 50. We don't want kids and have discussed this years ago. We've been together since 1998-married nearly 9 years now, and won't change our minds. I have begged the Drs to tie my tubes, but they refuse. They think I will change my mind. Why do they assume EVERYONE wants kids??? And if I did, then tough luck on me anyway...Sigh. Anyway, we decided to look into DH having the snip. Told the NHS won't do it, but we could go private. Went to see about that, but it's about £1000. Got really upset & went back onto the injection again. Then a couple of years ago we tried the GPs again to ask about the snip. No problem-got referred and it was done within a few weeks. :j (but not for DH, obviously!) Such conflicting info from the Drs. I am still having the injection, though, as it has completely stopped my periods. I really don't cope well with them. I never have. I get very moody, feel horrible and have such cramps. With the injection, I occassionly get cramps, which Nurofen usually sorts out, and that's mainly when I'm due another jab (every 11 weeks).
Sorry to ramble on a bit. Just wanted to say what works for me. I would try and see a Family Planning clinic if you can. It might take trying a few options to see what works, but it's worth it when you get the right method.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

I've been on same one and after initial bleeding there are no pmts, no migraines (like on migrogynon) and no slumps to my black dog either during periods (as there are none).
I asked at age 40 my GP if they could just give me hysterectomy and I was told that it was too drastic measure to treat depression and migraines. Anyway I am happy now on both counts actually.
Oh and Frankie is coming along very nicely. One colour left on him and then all the grass and stuff plus back stitch.
I am moving tomorrow so no picture updates from me until I get connection in new place. Will come for a cuppa on my lunch breaks at work thou."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

I don't mind you asking, we're all wimmen
I was on Cerazette after I had my DD, but my blood pressure kept going up and finally last month my doc said I had to come off or I was in danger of having a stroke (at 31 - no thanks!) and suggested I try progesterone only contraception. Pity though, it had stopped my periods completely, I'm dreading having one again after so long.
He suggested the coil or the implant...I'm not having anything stuck in personal areas so opted for the implant.I mentioned earlier in the year? that I had booked some leave from work solely for the purpose of doing some cross stitch.... Well that leave has arrived! :j:D:j I don't think I can quite believe it !
Ohhh you are so lucky:j:j
