Speaking of the weekend...I'm going to Brighton for a few nights on Sunday. Anyone live in the area fancy meeting up for a coffee? Also, are there any craft shops there? Not really got a plan for the trip-just chill out & enjoy some sea air. Will wander round the lanes & go to the Marina (apparently we have a Walk Of Fame there!) but not sure what else to do.

Do you think it would be possible to roll the edges of the aida up and fix it to the smaller frame temporarily?

    That's exactly what I do :D

Never had any problems with it - I do really big designs on a lap frame, think it's about 10x10

chicky - that is awful, I don't know what is wrong with people these days  2 years ago we had my daughters bike stolen in broad daylight. It was right by the house near the back door, and vanished between me calling my daughter in for a sandwich and me making that sandwich! She was devastated, so I can imagine just how your little boy must have felt.
Yay for freecycle though, it's great that someone was happy to help you :)
And I hope you get your early induction. I was induced with my son and it was great, a couple of hours and there he was.

Ruth honey - hope you have a great weekend.

nykied - Happy Birthday for yesterday! Did you get any good pressie's?

Now I must do some stitching today, but I've also got to search ebay for an old banger as hubby still won't let me drive his car!

Thanks peeps! I got some money, which I'm using for a walking foot for my sewing machine, chocolate and a subscription to WOXS :D

  • nykied, belated happy birthday, enjoy your prezzies :j
Ruth, have a great weekend away :D
Kezbaby, love the piglet design, its very bright. The Mr Men sample looks so cute, I adore May's squuare, so cute!
Craftygranny, the new arival looks sweet, enjoy him :)
Mags, you are getting on well with your lastes project, don't envy all those brown shades though :o

Ollie is now on day 19 and is all but done. I have ran out of the shade needed for the back stitch so its just his right wing to do and a little on his chest. I will try and get the missing thread this weekend. But I will put up a pic tonight hopefully.

I am now moving onto my buttons as the wedding gift kit hasn't arrived. I may even finish the buttons today as they are all whole stitches and are small :D

Have a great Friday all :j

If anyone has any tips on how to stitch metallic thread without it a) fraying or b) knotting I would be extremely grateful.
I measure mine out to about 30cm, run it through Thread Heaven, then if its meant to be done in two strands, I thread the needle with one half of the thread and then double it up, this means it'll create a complete loop so you shouldn't get tangled up.

I warn you though, metallics are a devil to secure, so keep a finger on it as you secure it in the back to start.

you get with issue 1(99p) - 6 threads (unbranded) 6 needles, a hoop and a big piece of aida. There are several good samplers in the mag including the one you will be building up each week which is a kitchen theme. Its lots of kitchen stuff on shelves. the first issue gives you the threads and teapot motif.

    You get issue 2 at £1.99 - +issue 3 free + a thread organiser and a chest maganifying glass.

There after you will receive 4 issues packed together every 4 weeks at the price of £2.99 per issue plus 50p p&P per issue.

With the 3rd delivery you receive a wooden frame which fits your 1st sampler (the kitchen one)

You also get the ringbinders at £5.99 (thats the bit that put me off)
Yep, sounds exactly like my Art of Knitting subscription. Luckily I don't need Art of Cross-stitch, as I have my Needlecraft Magics now, but if I hadn't completed those I would've probably gone for this. :)

Kez. Piglet is cute! Forgive me because I can't remember but are you framing it as it is or are you making it into a cushion?
It'll be a cushion, when I have a spare weekend to sew it up. :)
