i know smileyt that was my reaction... i was fuming!!!

I hate hugeeeee frames so my ingenious solution....... use hair bobbles or elastic bands to bind the excess aida in tight bunches (if this doesnt make sense yell and i'll try and take a piccie to explain).

  • I haven't posted for ages but have finished the 60th birthday sampler for MIL and will be collecting it from the framers tomorrow! Yippee!

I'm now just starting a map of Brecon on evenweave. First time using this and it's taking me ages to get started, hope I speed up soon! It will make a change from the little cards that I've been stitching in a night!

Hmmm, I can't picture that - doesn't it screw up the aida so much that when you come to stitch it you can't get the creases out? Could you explain a bit further, please (or it could be that I am thick lol).

Heads up for anyone in the Manchester area: Sew-In of Marple and Didsbury are having a sale. Their sale kits are two for £10 at the moment, but it will only be for a very short time (I don't know how long, sorry). I got £118 worth of kits yesterday for £20, an absolute bargain! They should keep me quiet for the next year or five!

This includes some really big kits, like Maia's Siberia Tiger, as well as smaller kits and samplers. I really had to restrain myself .....

it does but depends how tough your Aida is. mine was very 'floppy' so didn't matter. you could iron it before stitching the scrunched bit. also you don't need to put them super tight just enough to bunch.

Anyway, I hope you don't mind me asking a question for my first post, ladies, but I thought someone on here might know the answer. I've just bought a Maia kit (Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Moonlight) which I want to stitch for my sister as a Christmas present. However I only have a small 12" frame. I know I'll have to get a bigger one, at least 26", as the aida is 25"x25". However, I am desperate to get started (lol I'm sure you all know that feeling of a new kit singing to you!). Do you think it would be possible to roll the edges of the aida up and fix it to the smaller frame temporarily? That way I could make a start on the centre of the design whilst I am hunting down a larger tapestry frame from somewhere (ebay probably).

Ironically, my sister has a large floor-standing tapestry frame but I can hardly ask to borrow it :rotfl:

What do you think? Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.

I have a couple of kits where the fabric is too big for my frame and I haven't tried this yet but I intend to fold over the edges to make the aida fit. The folds will have to be small and many though because I can see myself stitching through the folds and not being able to unfold them later :rotfl:
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

Chicky That's disgusting stealing from a child and they obviously knew they were . Unfortunately there are far too many lowlifes around only too willing to steal from kids. 2 years ago we had a cozy coupe , a small trampoline and a little tykes playhouse stolen from the garden . 3 months later they took a huge picnic table and two matching planters that couldn't even be lifted by one person. Police said it's usually drug addicts cos kids toys are easy to sell on.

thanks I know it realllly takes the mick!! (that and you're only up the road :D) seems to be one of those years - they took hubby's bike last year - from a LOCKED garden shed!!
they are LARGE items to go tho - not that that excuses anything - shows they know what they are doing, just hate the fact people can live with themselves. if we ever confounted them tho we'd be the ones locked up.
