I go through phases of liking to do them. Not done any in a while though. My favourite ones are the 'wasjig' designs where there will be a picture on a box but the jigsaw is of what it looked like 20 years previously, that sort of thing.

I have seen these jigsaws but never taken much notice, they sound quite fun! :D

I haven't done a jigsaw since we moved here last year as hubby stuck them all in the loft. I might have to send him up to get them now. I have one of those jigsaw rolls, it's such rubbish that I'd always end up covered in green fluff from it.

Mine too were going in the loft when we moved here but I talked hubby into letting me keep some in a spare cupboard (favourites and some new ones that are still in their cellophane) and the rest got boxed up and went in the loft.

Well I've taken craftgranny's advice and invested in some Thread Heaven, ordered from sew and so, it should be here tomorrow. Have decided not to do anymore of the metallic stitching until I get it.

I know it's not for this thread but I've made 2 necklaces today, one in chain maille and the other is an illusion. Very pleased with my makes.

Me :D. It's been really good. The only thing I don't like about it is that awful woman who plays the middle family's mum, she drives me mad in everything she does.

Alex Kingston? I don't like her character at all, she's totally unwilling to listen to anyone but herself

I used to do those! I mainly like big puzzles as the small ones are too easy. I haven't done a jigsaw since we moved here last year as hubby stuck them all in the loft. I might have to send him up to get them now. I have one of those jigsaw rolls, it's such rubbish that I'd always end up covered in green fluff from it.

Mine is one of the ones with two flaps on the front that opens out, like a cupboard. Really good!

Fab! I saw that advertised in one of the magazines and it's soooo cute!

They are. You can also get the ones that are seen through someone's eyes. The picture on the box is of a crowd with a kid in, for example, and the actual jigsaw is of what that kid can see. They're really good, as you're not doing what's on the front of the box.

i had a very stitchy night last night, quite unexpectidly. My other half wanted to try the Irish Folk Music night in Corby, so we went along. He joined in with the guitar and fiddle, and i sat and listened and very happily stitched :D .
sadly not the sampler, but lots on my easy cupcake UFO. better than nothing. the music was great and no one seemed to mind i kept my hands busy whilst listening as long as i put it down to clap when needed!

it also meant i could get a moderatly interesting photo of 'you and your stitching' for Cross Stitchers Friday comp this week. fingers crossed!!

well I've scoured high and low (ok google) for that art of cross stitch mag and can't find it either. However Hachette Partworks do all the other art of series (crochet, calligraphy, knitting) so I assume it is one of theirs. Not on their web site yet tho but could be a 'watch this space' if its only just out....

well done Apocasaver. you never know your dream job may be just round the corner.

I didn't do any stitching yesterday but I did work on something else I enjoy, a jigsaw puzzle. I forgot I had one started until I found the box in the cupboard.

i had a phase of puzzles a year or so ago.... but then got too annoyed with them lol. the wasjig type ones are great tho.

    Thread Magic

seeing it mentioned on here this morning reminded me that I've got a tiny box of it somewhere.

I'm scared to use it in case it marks the fabric, makes it greasy or waxy. Does anyone have these probs or is it quite safe ?

    Thanks

mine seems ok sticks to the thread but nothing else. not noticed any effect on the stitching - hmm actually were is it i've not see it in a while....

well if you insist :j tho my settings are for longer pages so i'm only on 50 - oh dear will have to have another celebration at another time. :D

am having a tough time at the moment. baby itching is driving me insane as my meds have stopped working. this is resulting in me being awake until 1am then awake at least once in the night for an hour before gettin up at 7. called it a day when i almost felll asleep at work this morning and signed myself off sick this afternoon and tomorrow. got an appt with the obs/ gyne consultant at my mat hospital on wednesday so am praying they have a solution (or early induction).

on top of that my little boy had his ride on tractor (that he is obsessed with) stolen out the garden last night so was inconsolable this morning when he went to play on it. they'd not even had the decency to leave his sand and water toys out of it we had to retrieve these from half way up the road.
however human decency has come through and after a plea on freegle someone has offered him one - we're just working out the logistics of collection as we dont drive.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

Aw chickywiggle, what a shame for your little one. Who would nick a kid's toy?

Anyway, I hope you don't mind me asking a question for my first post, ladies, but I thought someone on here might know the answer. I've just bought a Maia kit (Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Moonlight) which I want to stitch for my sister as a Christmas present. However I only have a small 12" frame. I know I'll have to get a bigger one, at least 26", as the aida is 25"x25". However, I am desperate to get started (lol I'm sure you all know that feeling of a new kit singing to you!). Do you think it would be possible to roll the edges of the aida up and fix it to the smaller frame temporarily? That way I could make a start on the centre of the design whilst I am hunting down a larger tapestry frame from somewhere (ebay probably).

Ironically, my sister has a large floor-standing tapestry frame but I can hardly ask to borrow it :rotfl:

What do you think? Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.
