I'm wishing huge hugs and peace to Maria and all those touched or saddened by her sad anniversary. I'm really moved to hear of Maria's, Louises, Chicky's, The Dragons and Sweetcarers sad experiences. I read your posts at work but couldnt comment, and they've stayed with me all day. I took the morning after pill when 17 after my first time and tried to forget it. I'm now 30 and can hear my clock ticking. OH says lets move, lets get finically sorted first, lets get a dog first... all this waiting makes me so scared if we were to have trouble we're loosing time and chances. 2 close friends had miscarriages but got pregnant succesfully soon after so our focus has been on the 'successes'. I guess hearing your tales is the reality of it all, the bit we dont usually talk about. Thank you all for sharing. xxx

Why not take out all the lettering and put the details below the heart. Put their names in the heart and details below - eg Mike & Jenny in heart, and below married 7 July 2007 at Loch Lomond.

That is if you want to keep the design but not too bothered by lettering - if thats rubbish forget what I said.

I see you live near Corby - my late husband has a brother near their in Uppingham and had a bakery in Corby - been a long time since I been down that way - don't know how they would react if I turn up and said HI.
Sweetcarer - are you having a phsycic (sp?) moment? well, you got one of the names right anyhow! i dont know about your late husband's family, but if you turned up here i'd invite you in, give you cake and we could sit and stich and have a natter :)
~ i guess i should have said that i AM taking OUT the original wording and putting my own in! :rotfl: i've never met the fiance and am sure he's lovely but that'd be pushing it i think!

thanks everyone for all your ideas on the wedding sampler. you all said to put their names Inside the heart, so i'll do that. i'll definately put the date on and the church name if i can.

?? You dont think i have to use the mad wiggly lettering style do you? i'll try to recreate it but there's no alphabet so it will be difficult so might only do their names in that style.

PM - congrats on your quick stitch! it certainly was! where'd you get the Insanity is Heredity? it looks like one i've seen in a book somewhere, poss the same book the wedding thing is from!

PostingAlways - do you have the 'avatars' turned on? if so, isn't it odd how similar your eye chart is to louises avatar?!

    Appocco :j :T :j :T that's fab!!! well done!!!

I also gave in and bought Cross Stitcher... my first since Nov i think so that's good. I love a lot of what's in it. AND i had a 2.00 off voucher for Mr T that ran out today so it seemed logical to spend it on that! I haven't opened it yet,,, PostingAlways... is your mirror intact? you'll be one of the lucky few if it is!

  • Right, I've had my tea and made tomorrow's pack-up so I'm back.

Ladies, I would like your views on rotation.

I have a long list of projects that I want to do, most of which are medium size to BAP (big assed project - new abbreviation for me found on US x-stitching blogs :D). I really am not into smalls, having found that the amount of work you put in doesn't show enough to make the recipient appreciate it properly.

Now that Sunflower Girl is finished, I will be going back to my Fuchsias but I'm seriously considering setting up a rotation with some of the other projects that I want to do. I've got my HAED - Witches and Crones, and my Scarlet Quince piece - Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose, both of which are BAP. There's a tropical pond piece from one of the magazines that I fancy, Joan Elliott's Renaissance ladies and her Tree of Life, and so on and so forth.

I also have my Lyndisfarne VW Beetle to be stitched by this time next year for my friend's 40th.

Having spent the past 8 weeks (less 1 day) spending most of my spare time stitching Sunflower Girl to a deadline while everything else in my life got put to one side, I don't want to do that again with the VW Beetle. I want my life back. I want to be able to stitch at a leisurely pace and do other things, rather than stitch like a maniac and then have to spend who knows how long picking up all the other things that got dropped in the meantime.

So I'm thinking about sorting out a rotation which will see the Beetle finished by this time next year, my Fuchsias finished by the end of the year (I did originally plan to get them done by the end of April this year, but no chance!) and obvious progress made on a couple of other projects.

What do you think? All views gratefully received.

    Ro

It all depends on you Ro, I used to be a one at a time person, then I started a rotation and now I have 15 started projects that I am attempting to finish! I have gone back to one at a time :o

Hugs for Maria - I also struggle with different days in the year after m/c's and still can't go to school Christmas dinner even though the date changes the event triggers so many thoughts and feelings. Curling up in a ball is allowed ((hugs))

  • Me too on the Dancing on Ice. But I've seen the skate-off so am catching up on the performances.

Grr slightly annoyed tonight, got settled down to some proper stitching only to get quite far in a couple of hours and then find out that it's out of place. I can't leave it like that cos it's the name 'Piglet' and it is now sloping from left to top right. :(

    Try again tomorrow.

Oh I'm a one project at a time girl,, only exception is smaller kits come with me to my mums and during my lunch breaks at work, as the work on the frame doesn't travel too well...

I'm very much a 'stitch whatever suits my mood' kind of girl. I have loads of projects on the go and what I stitch on depends on what I fancy. Sometimes I want something quick & simple, sometimes a funky, fun kit, other times a detailed picture of scenery. I'm really into the Princess Palace, but I *must* get back into stitching my mum Crisp Afternoon (huge detailed chart of trees in Autumn), so I'm thinking I will reward myself with some 'me' stitching for every X hours/days of Crisp Afternoon. Maybe you could do a day or 2 a week on the Beetle & rotate the other designs?

Happy Dance for me today - Sunflower Girl is finally finished and taken to the framers :j

And then here is the finished article last night, tape removed, washed and pressed - http://s618.photobucket.com/albums/tt268/rowantanner/?action=view&current=SunflowerGirl-finished-27Feb2011.jpg

Special thanks to whoever it was who recommended Opus Frames in Beeston (nykied? - sorry, I've slept since then :)) - they currently have 10% off all framing - and here is a piece that some of you may remember as framed by Opus - http://s618.photobucket.com/albums/tt268/rowantanner/?action=view&current=Pheasant-framedFeb2011.jpg

The Sunflower Girl is really pretty. I'm sure your niece will love it!
Must admit I really like the pheasant too. Pheasant's aren't a fav bird of mine but the colours in your piece are lovely.

It feels a bit inappropriate in view of the tone of todays posts, but I'm so happy today. I passed my driving test first time!!!!!!!!!!!! Took me months of lessons and 3 instructors but I finally got there :j:j:j:j:j:j

    Well done!!

As for me, I got some more done on the sampler today. I'm really enjoying stitching it! :D
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
