Sammar - just saw your post. i'm so sorry to hear about your OHs grandad. Just because you cant console his crying, because he's not doing that, doesnt mean you can't be there for him. my OH is the same. I make sure i'm there for him a bit more than normal in general ways, like how about fixing him a drink (tea? wisky?! tea with wisky?!!), or making his lunch, or cooking his favourite comfort food?

Please take care of the neck and shoulder. I feel down stairs a few years ago and grabbed hold of the bannister really hard to stop myself. My neck and shoulder were painful for months and developed into a frozen shoulder - can't describe the pain of a sudden movement (even turning over in bed would wake me up). In the end I had to have a cortisone injection into the shoulder joint which sorted it.

Have you got a TENS machine by any chance, I found them very effective.

    Linda xx
Thanks for your info Erics Mum, I do indeed have a TENS machine (been using one on my lower back for 27 years)...not sure where to put the pads though...will have a look at the machine's handbook. I did actually slip downstairs on Tuesday night, and caught my right hand in the bannister. It is the left side that is really sore though...so I'm not sure if this pain ahs been caused by the fall.

Keiss - weather is lovely here as well - but it'll be a cold day in hell before I go and do any weeding though :rotfl: Hope that shoulder gets better soon, preferably before you need to fork out for a physio ;)
Maria - the kiss cushion is lovely :j I don't envy you that new design though, I really don't like doing flowers either. How long did you say you had to get it completed? :)

Sk00bie - hope things get better for you soon as well (((nother hug))) as for washing - in the sink with some washing powder for a wee hand wash and it will be fine. Roll it in a towel and press to wring the water out of it before ironing. It won't run, I PROMISE ;)

As for a frame, I can't recommend this one highly enough:

    http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Plastic-TableLap-Frame---Small__FRH-Small-spc-Table-fslsh-Lap.aspx

Have been using it myself for nearly 2 years now and will never go back to a hoop :T
Louise - So you don't have weeds then...or have you a gardener?!:rotfl: Got DS to do some tidying up in the garden...he put my garlic out to harden off (and took them in again tonight...then they'll go out tomorrow morning for the day). It won't be long before they will be out permanently, giving me more space in the greenhouse :D As for the physio, I already saw her on Wednesday :o (pre-existing appointment), hope I don't need another appointment though!

Maria - love the Kiss cushion too! A nice grandchildren sampler...but looks like it might be a b****r to stitch!!!

Sk00bie - Love this frame too...got one last year on recommendation from Louise herself!

Right, off to have a doze in the chair. Made bolognese sauce this afternoon as well as a chocolate & beetroot brownie cake, to make into DS's birthday cake tomorrow. Totally shattered, but have a bit more movement in my arm...though it still hurts!! Using ibugel, which is taking the edge off the pain a bit. May have to get more tomorrow!!

    Have a good evening all. M x

Mum took and passed her shortly after my dad died, so she must have been about 49.:)
Unfortunately she doesn't drive now (She's 62) due to her Parkinson's, but it was good for her while she could.

Oh ladies, don't leave your work half done when you put it away,I've just spent the last half hour figuring out where I had got to with a small card kit. :( Why didn't I complete it when I started it years ago...

My mum has parkinsons too - I am always trying to presude mum to do stuff but she rather sit in front of the goggle box.

Bless u, I wish I lived closer. I too am in that predicament though. I really need some friends. I've moved 27 miles from family and haven't got many friends (being 25 with 3 kids does that to u!) Only person I speak to other than the people I live in my house is my neighbour who I go shopping with normally once a week, sometimes less :(

I have some sad news. OH's Gramp died yesterday afternoon :( He has been ill for a while and in and out of hospital but he has bounced back so many times before we all kind of presumed he would last forever. Funeral is next Friday. OH is fine, he doesn't share his emotions, he likes to stay "strong". Just finding it hard to console him when there is no physical emotion to console!

Going to get some more of my DOH done tonight whilst watching some hairy bikers!

Firstly I am sorry to hear about your Gramp. As long as OH knows you are there he will come to you I know it is reassuring to know you are not alone.

I too miss not having friends nearby but you lot help so much so thankyou.

Thank you all for your kind wishes - wish I could get the energy to sort out my stiching stuff and get on and do some done as I know it will help me.

Off to bed soon - hope to sleep - kind wishes all

    sweetcarer ;)

Also I need a frame as I would like to start a bigger project for my mum, any recommendations? :D I've only used hoops before, and haven't used one at all for santa so I have no idea really!

I would recommend the following frame http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran997-0.html and also the stand that goes with it http://www.sewandso.co.uk/ran882-0.html
To start with I only had a frame and leant it on a table that I stood in front of me (can cause cramp if held in the hand for too long and I like to have both hands free) then I got the chance of the floorstand and now I wonder how I managed without the floorstand for so long!
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
  • Thats the floor stand i have too. i bought it to use for a big project. well big by my standards lol. Don't know how i'd have managed without it.
